    just read your profile, and I see you are a carpenter,I just retired after 40 years as a pipe fitter. My 78 TA I bought 6 years ago, with 29915 miles on it, for 4000usd the guy I got it from thought had a cracked head, it didn't but as long as he wanted to think that it was alright with me,4years ago I got a set of #64 heads had them ground .045 and got the compression up to about 9.3 to 1, along with set cometic gaskets,a set of headers from some guy in Calif. that where made to be able to remove the starter and oil filter with out moving the headers, and now with that tranny it launchs pretty well, the guy I bought from had a cam put ,it starts rampping up at 3500 rpms so thats coming out this coming winter and Comp has a cam that begins at 1200 and is all done at 5200rpms and it has a lump in the idle,but good luck with yours this summer Jim
