    Hi Cliff,
I have talked to you before and now I have a paying customer that needs Q-Jet help.
Engine is a 496 BBC with World oval port heads, 9.8:1 compression, Performer RPM Air Gap, Mallory ignition with vac advance, cam is 236I and 242E at .050" lifter rise, hydraulic roller.
Trans is 700R-4 with 3000 converter (ATI), 3.73 gears, 1974 Chevy PU.
Carb I have is number 17059602. I need a top gasket, jets and metering rods (pri and sec), which hanger to use and what metering to change. Street fun only.

    HELP!!

    HI CLIFF,

I'VE READ YOUR GREAT BOOK, ESPECIALLY THE LAST FEW DAYS. I ORDERED AN OVERHAUL KIT FROM YOU & ALSO HAD YOU MACHINE 4 SETS OF METERING RODS.

THIS WEEK I AM FINISHING UP MY 72' GTO, FRESHENED UP THE 455, 041 CAM, 7K3 HEADS,R/A MANIFOLDS, STOCK INTAKE, TH400 & 4:10,TRW FORGED FLAT TOPS FOR APPROX. 10.0 TO 1 COMPRESSION, PAINTED & DETAILED ENG. & ENG. COMPARTMENT, ETC.

I HAVE A #7042262 Q-JET, HAD STOCK REBUILD WHEN I BOUGHT IT AT A SWAP RECENTLY. I PLAN TO RACE PURE STOCK DRAGS. SO, ON YOUR ADVICE I INSTALLED THE #65 MAIN JETS & REMOVED THE PRIMARY METERING RODS & PISTON. FIRED IT UP LAST NIGHT & RAN GOOD! TODAY I DECIED TO PUT BACK MY STOCK #73 MAIN JETS & #44 RODS & PISTON FOR STREET DRIVING UNTIL RACING NEXT YEAR. I DID JUST THAT & SCREWED UP SOMEHOW!!!!
CARB IS NOW DUMPING FUEL BIG TIME!! PULLED PLUGS FUEL IS GUSHING OUT OF CYLS.!! HAVE TO CHANGE BRAND NEW OIL NOW!! NOT TO MENTION RUINED MY ENGINE PAINT WHICH I TEDIOUSLY WORKED ON FOR WEEKS!! NEED HELP, SHOULD I CHECK FLOAT, NEEDLE & SEAT? ALL ARE NEW ITEMS FROM YOU, I MUST HAVE DAMAGED SOMETHING WHEN INSTALLING THE AIR HORN. BY THE WAY, I DID THIS JET SWAP WITH CARB ON ENGINE, GUESS I SHOULD HAVE TAKEN THE TIME TO PULL IT!

FRUSTRATED!! ANY ADVICE WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THANKS, BILL 219-775-7356.

Didn't get the car there this year. Was shooting to get it to cecil county but looks like a new job is kinda slowing me down on that one too. I think I talked to you and Mr. Lehart there one day. I am doing a 462 in my car with 62 heads, xe274 cam, nothing too exotic at all, just a good dependable bracket motor. Along with all that I am putting a bar in the car and getting that over with along with building upper adjustable control arms so one project seemingly turned into about 20. But thats usually how it goes......

You mean what was the prize? I got two trophies (not the girls, actual trophies) and the gold colored Eliminator Englishtown decal, which is apparantly a big deal.
This was all from the Factory Apearing Drags (F/S class).
