not sure on the copy issue - runners seem higher than RPM.

No adapter required on a spread bore intake. Isn't the Crosswind a copy of the RPM?....

ok, I will examine. A Q-Jet by chance would not need a steel adaptor like a squarebore for a Crosswind intake would it?

Throttle blades "closed" at that much rpm's means it's getting a LOT of air from someplace, and most likely not enough idle fuel as well....Cliff

I will examine this for a vacuum leak - currently mounted on a Crosswind manifold.

Dificult to say without seeing it. The air to sustain that high on an idle speed has to come from someplace? If the idle system is up to par, the plates have to be open too far to sustain any sort of idle. Could have a big leak someplace as well....Cliff

Why would it be that much different than on the 462 it was on previously? Throttle blades are completely closed - yet very high idle.

Service replacement carb going by the number. Most likely just not set-up for what you are doing. It would need recalibrated to work correctly, otherwise it would be way lean, and not enough idle/off idle fuel, etc.....Cliff
