He used a wire brush, but missed the crevices. I media blasted and wire wheel brushed. Post was silver, safety latch gold, bolts & safety latch coil spring black. How does that sound?

Jon, The Valspar number is 68217. It says Hammered Black, but it really is dark gray--very close to the original color and texture if you apply it carefully.

Hi Dick Heater box color for 64 Gto. You posted a Valspar paint from Hinshaw. Do you have number off the can? They couldn't find the paint. I found on Amazon Valspar # 68219 labeled hammered silver gray. Is this the correct # & color?? Thanks jon
