Picture The '70 Lemans/GTO racecar:
My primary Pontiac is my '70 Lemans/GTO race car:

This car is also refrigerator white (see a theme is developing?),has a glasstek fiberglass lift off front end with a 5" cowl hood, and a glass decklid, all glass uses Dzus fasteners for mounting, also has a 16 gallon fuel cell with foam, six point "legal" roll bar, poly seat (going to upgrade that to a Kirkey seat & cover),Harness is going to come from Crow safety gear, recently added a quick release steering wheel and hub, steering column lock is removed, aluminum dash and rear firewall, rear wheel wells are mini-tubbed,trunk mounted battery and box, driveshaft loop, manual steering and brakes, aluminum "quick remove" radiator and electric fans, also equipped with "line locs" on front brakes.

Primary enigne is a fully assembled and ready to go 400 bored .030" over (406 cid),with TRW/federal-mogul #L2262F-30 forged pistons and eagle forged 6.625" H-beam rods, file fit plasma moly rings, crank is a factory N unit.

Balancer is Pioneer SFI unit, timing cover has been clearanced for ATI unit already though.

Oiling is handled by a moroso 8 qt. "deep" pan #20490 and pickup,pick-up is brazed to pump body, pump itself is a melling m54d 60 psi item, pump has been blueprinted and ported to match block oil passage, shimmed to yeild 70 PSI,modified factory "5" 4/5's windage tray, and uses a HD billet oil pump driveshaft.

Heads are 670's with mild port work (bowls and port match to 2.06"x1.14" probably around 220ish cfm max),heads are assembled with undercut SS valves, comp 995-16 springs, steel retainers and 10 degree locks, and viton VS seals, cam is a custom crower solid (#E-27941) specs are 288/292 adv. dur.,256/260 dur. @ .050" NET lift w/1.5 HS rollers is .554"/.560,LSA is 108,ICL is 102,the lifters are crower solid lifters, pushrods are .080" wall comp magnum chro-moly,rockers are harland sharp 1.5's,it also has a comp stud girdle.

Valve covers are the tall DCI cast aluminum pieces, unlettered and painted to match the engine color, with an oil fill cap added and an EVAC breather added as well.

Compression ratio is right @ 10.0:1.

Arp headbolts are used,as well as fel-pro 1016 headgaskets.

Update: The previously mentioned TII intake has been changed to an unported/box stock Victor 4500 EFI intake with the EFI bosses blocked off via Tom Vaught's kit,and a 4500 to 4150 adapter (Edelbrock #8716) is also being used,Intake gaskets will be SCE #228102.

Carb is an owner built holley 4150 list #4780-0 800 cfm "double pumper" with the "down leg" boosters, equipped with lots of goodies.

Fuel system uses a product engineering PE4400 pump (460GPH @ 35 PSI),plumbing updates are under way and will include an 8AN vent w/rollover vent valve, and an 8AN return to cell from pump, and it will use 12 AN from cell to pump, then from the pump it will use 10AN to a BG Y block, the system has a BG Y block to split for two legs of 8AN,one for the carb, and the other will be for the nitrous system regulator, the engine supply goes to a holley "big" 12-704 regulator, then to the carb, nitrous system will use a standard holley 12-803 reg,and the single stage plate nitrous system is TBA at a later date.

Ignition is a gutted and locked out HEI,triggering a MSD 6AL,with a MSD blaster SS coil, with firewall feed-thru going to a mallory coil/cap adapter and a mallory cap and rotor with brass terminals, will also use an MSD timing computer with a single stage of retard for nitrous use, also uses a three step RPM limiter, plug wires will be black MSD 8.5mm super-conductor #31363,plugs will be Autolite 303 or equivalent for non nitrous use,gap will be .045",nitrous use will use NGK B7S or B8S plugs and will be gapped @ .030" or so.

All chassis electrical is wired by owner, front to rear, all high current loads are on relays and fused, this is "in progress" and is tedious as hell.

Gauges are all autometer,as is shift light.

Exhaust will use hedman 1 3/4" headers for the time being, equipped with EVAC,will be 3" into an H style crossover, then into 3" flowmaster 2 chamber delta flows with turndowns.

Trans is TH 400 built by owner, fairbanks 34 element sprag and drum, transtar kit with BW clutches, has a Turbo-Action full reverse manual VB,and it has an aluminum "deep" pan as well, also uses a CSR saftey shield, shifter is a B&M pro-stick,also has a HD trans cooler.

Convertor is currently a Redneck 9.5" 3800-4200 stall w/anti-balloon plates.

Flex plate is a SFI approved TCI item, using ARP bolts.

Driveshaft undecided at this time.

Rear end is GM 8.875" twelve bolt,axle tubes welded to center section,full spool,w/4.10 gears,moser 33 spline axles,and C-clip eliminators.

Rear suspension has SSM lowers with new upper arms with good rubber bushings, poly air bag in RR,and generic 50/50 hydraulic shocks, functional enough.

But upgrades will be made as future funds allow, like frame braces and adjustable uppers & spherical bushings thru-out along with a bolt-on anti-roll bar (spohn or HR parts).

Front suspension is mostly stock, moroso drag springs, and CE travel limiters, and non serrated upper control arm bushings,no front sway bar, shocks are likely to be CE or lakewood 90/10's.

Wheels are weld draglites,15"x3.5" front,15"x8" (5.5" Bs) rear, tires are genric 165's front,28"x10.5"x15" MT drag slicks rear, screwed to rims.

As with the firebird, progress is slow on this one too.

Currently in the process of re-wiring and re-plumbing the car to correct some so-so work by the previous owners.

Enjoy.

Picture The '72 firebird.
This was my "plain jane/sleeper" Street/Strip '72 firebird:
It was a work in progress,,,very slow progress...

Anyhow a move in Dec. 2013 forced the sale of this car to help fund aspects of said move and greatly simplified the process by not having to make arrangements & pay to ship this car north.

I mostly leave this info here just as a matter of courtesy to the new owner as it contains info he may need to know.

It has a refrigerator white exterior, mostly original "shot" paint, grilles have had the honeycomb portion "blacked-out",also it will be using a matching 76 steel formula hood, stamped steel wheels (body color) with "poverty" caps, sizes are 15"x6" fronts,15"x7" rears, tires are "black-wall" 205-70-15" fronts (BFG touring T/A) and 235-60-15" rear (BFG radial T/A's),have a spare set of matching wheels with 235-60-15" BFG T/A drag radials mounted on them for racing use.

Has A/C,power steering, and is a factory manual disc brake car.

Interior is stock more or less, added a formula steering wheel, and autometer tach, speedo, and gauges, currently in the process of converting from "tuxedo" color scheme to an all black interior, car was a factory "rear-console" car,but the console itself was trashed so I sold off the good parts as I dont much care about "options" like that.

Engine is a low mileage '74 vintage 455 shortblock, stock cast bottom end,all clearances checked OK,retains all "standard" specs, incl. bore, crank, and rods, freshened with new cast pistons, fresh bore hone and good rings, new bearings, along with HD rod bolts.

Oiling system uses the OE baffled pan with a modifed 4/5 windage tray, melling m54ds pump,pick-up welded, pump is blueprinted and passages ported to match block, shimmed for 70 PSI,uses a "wide" cork rear pan seal, stock oil filter adapter,AC PF-24 oil filters.

Heads are Dan Whitmore ported '71 vintage #96 heads (250 CFM),96 cc chambers,.100" longer SS "undercut" flat face valves,hardened exhaust seats installed,exhaust crossovers blocked,using crower 68405-16 springs (1.687" IH),melling retainers,HD locks,positive VS seal,ultimate retainer to guide clearance is .690",lift OK to at least .630",heads slotted for 1.65 rockers,crower #60210 cam (278/288 adv. dur.,229/239 .050" dur.,.483"/.501 lift @ 1.5 rocker ratio,108 LSA,installed @ 104.5 LSA,NOS "johnson" speed-pro ht-951 lifters,HD "silent/link style" timing chain set,clevite 9.250" pushrods for longer valves,crane #28800-16 1.5 stamped HD long slot rockers,BBC adjustable rocker studs and locknuts,ARP headbolts and Fel-Pro 1016 headgaskets.

Stock engine color valve-covers,.250" thick fel-pro gaskets, with studs and locking nuts with load spreaders to prevent warpage.

Owner built and modified holley 4160/list no. 3310-2 750 cfm vacuum secondary carb, has quick fuel billet metering plate with replaceable jets, holley screw in jet extensions and notched secondary float to prevent uncovering jets on hard launches, plastic "whistle" on primary bowl to prevent fuel slosh out vent on hard launches, has power valve blow-out protector added, jetted for combo,65 PV,electric choke, quick change secondary spring cover, plastic bowl washers and hex head bowl screws, using a heat shield to keep the fuel in the bowls cool too.

Intake is a port matched (fel-pro #1233/RAIV 2.20"x1.18" ports) edelbrock torker II intake, with the edelbrock script removed, intake is painted to match the engines color in an attempt to "blend in" and appear stock.

Ignition is handled by a "curved" stock points distributor, uses a 10 degree vacuum advance can on ported vacuum, and may later be fitted with the crane xri breakerless ignition w/rev limiter, and spark is from an MSD "blaster 2" coil (painted black, and mounted in the stock bracket),summit HEI terminal cap & rotor w/brass contacts, plug wires are black MSD #31363 8.5mm super conductor, with moroso wire separators (also black),plugs are AC R45S gapped @ .045".

Cooling system has a 4 row OE radiator, clearanced divider and a flow-kooler water pump,Mr. Gasket #4364 "high flow" 180 degree thermostat.

Exhaust starts with hedman #28164 "shorty" D-port/4 tube headers,stepped 1 5/8",1 3/4",with 3" collectors,fel-pro header gaskets with ultra copper high-temp RTV,serviceable 3" "intermediate" pipes with hooker #11032HKR 3" collector/reducers into a 90 degree mandrel bend,after the bend it goes into some flowmaster #15925 "ball-flange" 3" to 2 1/2" bolt-in reducer/collectors,this goes into the flowmaster 2 1/2" mandrel bend "crossflow" exhaust system #17104.

Transmission is an owner built TH-350,built with an early core, with the good clutch paks and thrust washers instead of torrington bearings, uses a TCI #328900 HD/hardened intermediate outer sprag race, transtar rebuild kit with BW clutches, line pressure is optimized for HD use,and valvebody is programed for "manual/automatic" use, adjustable modulator, high flow "mesh" filter is used, stock depth stamped pan with drain plug, new steel trans lines, and a HD hayden trans-cooler is used.

Torque convertor is a transmission specialties 2400-2600 unit.

Rear-end is an OE F-body 8.5" ten bolt, stock posi with a 3.23 ratio, uses a ratech solid pinion spacer & shims for pre-load instead of the OE crush sleeve, and will have the perches braced and welded,as well as having the axle tubes welded to the center-section,running stock axles for the time being.

Rear suspension is in the process of being updated with SSM lift bars,a stock early rear sway bar, alston tubular subframe connectors,PST poly-graphite spring eye-bushings,rear sway bar bushing kit and subframe mount bushings, along with better rear shocks front and rear.

Will also be sumping the gas tank and upgrading the fuel system soon.

Picture A few additional comments about/from me.
I do all my own work, have been doing such since I began building cars in the mid eightees, then a bit later on I went to voc. college and got a degree in automotive mechanics in '89-'90,after that worked as a ASE master auto tech since 1990 (recert in'98),so there is very little I cant handle on my own,I have worked at dealerships (ford),and in the "retail/independant" auto service sector,as well as having worked in parts sales for both as well.

Most all of this time,I also worked "off the clock" on high performance cars for friends and good customers and such, some of this was also helping these people at the drag strips with their rides.

A serious injury that required major surgery a while back dictated a career change,so I'm no longer working as an auto tech these days.

On a lighter note:

A few cars of note that I have owned in my past:
'70 nova (my first car,high school '84-'85),turned this into a SS396 clone.
'73 nova custom 2dr. coupe 350/th350 8.5" ten bolt 3.08 posi
'69 nova 6 cylinder car (thought about making a yenko clone)
'72 SS 396 Elcamino (traded the '70 nova SS clone for this)
'72 GTO WW5 455 H-O car,my first GTO!
'65 GTO a project that fizzled.
'61 ventura Ditto (and the only car I ever regret selling to this day!).
'73 ventura 2 dr. hatchback 350/th350 rally 2's 8.5" 10 bolt 3.42 posi.
'74 ventura 2 dr. coupe 455/th400 cal tracs,built 8.5" 10 bolt 3.42 posi.

Besides my own two current projects,I'm also currently working on getting my brothers S-code 390 equipped '68 ranchero GT road worthy,it needed a full on front suspension and brake rebuild, the C-6 auto trans rebuilt,as well as a valve job,and a few upgrades and detailing for good measure!

Cheers folks.
