1965 GTO original wheel id
What will identify an original 65 GTO steel wheel? Did they all have the small hole near the center of the wheel, on one of the lobes near the lug hole.?

Two steel wheel vendors in that time period; Kelsey Hayse and Norton Technology. Some believe the NT wheel was west coast and KH wheel was more east. NT has the distinctive upside down A by the valve stem hole and no 3/16th hole. Date code is J 5.

Thanks. Does this also apply to '65 full size wheels? My Bonneville has aftermarket wheels but I would like to go back.

MPC has a completely different part number for big car wheels as you would expect. You might check in the BIG CAR tech section.

There were several manufacturers/venders for the 14x6 steel wheels.
Imagine how many hundreds of thousands of these wheels were needed (minus the ‘65 Rally I) for the hubcap cars (5 per car). The ‘65 Survivor in my signature came with the Kelsey Hayes 14x6 JK and all 5 are dated 9 64 which matches the early build of this GTO. Valve stem has a 6 9 plus a W and GM stamped on the front side. No small hole in these wheels.
