Default Just bought Something Stupid

As there is no Solstice section here I didn't know where to post this, so monitors feel free to move it.

I just picked up a 2 sided dealer Banner for 2006, as my car is the same Colors as the one on the banner I could not resist, this thing is Huge!!!! 13' X 4' it is actually a bit larger than the car is. Just the car on one side, the car with spec's on the other side.

I paid to much for it, but it was only 20 minutes away from me so no shipping to deal with, and no chance of it getting damaged during shipping.

That's actually pretty cool!

I tried to get one of the huge '70 Judge banners that one of the tire companies did a few years ago, but to no avail.

That is a cool piece. It's only "stupid" to the guy who bought the Sky instead!

It's not stupid. Do you know how many guys here would love to go back to 50-60 years and pick up the same thing for their car? Garage art is a beautiful thing.

Great Score - FYI all my friends told me I was an idiot for buying a 1962 Super Duty Catalina with 12,000 miles on the clock for $2,000.00. Nope I was an idiot for selling it!

Thanks, as I said I could not pass it up. The side with the specs actually says "Actual Size" on the bottom just behind the front tire LOL!!!!

When the weather improves I will have make up a PVC stand for it and park the car beside it just for comparision

The pictures I posted were actually in the sellers garage, the car behind it under the cover is a 2016 Corvette, so it is a bit longer than the banner.

If your better half permitted the purchase of the banner, perhaps you can talk them into a larger garage with an empty wall to hang the banner!

Doesn't matter what it cost; if you can afford it, and it makes you happy, it was cheap!

Jon.

I like it!

I am still better at jerk-face for calling Pontiac "damaged goods" after he meddled, and let crap go down like the Sky - which only served to dilute the waters of a very hot commodity for the first model year...
Typical GM, selling the same car under multiple badges, then saying lagging sales are proof that it's underselling... sheesh.

The seller was asking $700 on E-bay, I got it for $400 picked up.

my Garage is 22' deep so I may have a place for it, just have to rearrange a few things to hang it up. Probably build a PVC frame to mount it in, so I can turn it around easy if mood strikes me.

I am pretty sure the Saturn Sky and Pontiac Solstice are both based on the Opel GT Kappa body. I bought a Sky Redline about six months ago, and while reserching it I seem to remember the Opel GT was based on a Vauxhall concept car.

The Sky looks very similar to the Opel GT, whereas the Solstice seems to incorporate the Healey Bugeye Sprite front end.

There was an Opel GT on the same Kappa platform that was sold in europe during the same time period as the Sky and Solstice (of course, it only shared the name with the original Opel GT mini-Corvette from the 1970s.) There was also a Daewoo G2x that was sold in Korea.

The poster would be a neat backdrop for your car if you bring it to shows (although probably not on windy days.)
