Default Seatbelt Disassembled Itself Tonight

Beth and I drove the Formula to dinner tonight; her first time riding in the car. After dinner she was buckling her seatbelt and complained that it wouldn't latch. I looked over to see what was wrong and saw the buckle missing all its inner pieces.

I found these parts under the seat:

What is the correct reassembly order and where can I find the tan plastic piece that is cracked? Also, am I missing any parts?

May be time to send the whole lot to Snake Oyl for reconditioning!

BJ

Exploding seat belt buckle gets another victim. You've got the second design. Find another seat belt or buy the kit and try to have it paint matched.

Got my rebuild parts - now, in what order do they go back in the buckle and is there a certain orientation for the metal clip?

Mike:
Good thing I ordered two kits! In the third picture of your post #5 above, the metal clip should be turned over so that the two tabs point up - otherwise, the first thing the seatbelt tab encounters is the spring. I should have studied what I could see in the slot of one of the other seat belt buckles before assembling. Got it repaired and working now. Thanks for the help and getting me started in the right direction.

I just ordered one also. A bit disappointed when only one came in. I thought "sold as set" meant at least enough for a set of seat belts and not just one. I told them they should call it a kit and not set and to revise the description to note it only does one seat belt.

Sorry about that BJ. They were pictures I had (probably for the stamped letter/numbers) on a computer. I knew I wasn't too sure on the assembly.

I didn't realize anyone sold a repair kit! Not intending a thread hijack, but I see mention of a second design. What is that, and how would one go about determining whether they had first or second design? My car is a 73; would that be first design? Is first design available?

Thanks,
Importsmasher

Design had to do with the positioning of the legs of the part.
Yes, '73 used the first design front and back.
