Is there a 17" space saver that fits 1974 Trans Am?
I'm looking for a space saver that will fit in the trunk of my TA and fit the hub of course. Does anyone know if there is such an animal?

Do you need a 17" wheel to clear big brakes?
If not a more common 16" space saver that can be available in dual bolt patterns of 4.75" and 4.5" will do the trick.

Yep, the front brakes won't clear with a 16". I think I found a fit, it's a 17" for a Jeep.

Try the '06 GTO spare tire. I think they are a narrow 17" steel wheel with all the brake clearance you need.

I think in a pinch that GTO spare would do the trick. Some wont like the .65mm difference, but if its just a spare to get you home it'll work fine.

Another idea is to get one of the rims you have right now and sending it out to get narrowed. Some wheel business's offer that service.

Why do you need a spare? When was the last time you had a flat? Are you planning on making a long trip, through the desert or something, where you would feel more comfortable with a spare?
I don't bother carrying spares anymore, if I do get a flat, I just tow it. If by chance the rim is damaged from some type of an impact, it's most likely junk anyway, so you could even pass on the tow and drive on the rim to a gas station, or maybe even home, depending on how far it is. I can't remember the last time I carried a spare. And I've done a LOT of long distant trips. No flats. Once I picked up a nail and had it plugged, but it never went totally flat. I hit a large, stand up bird cage once that fell off the back of a truck of a family that was moving, there was no time or room to swerve or anything. That thing tore the brake line on the front on the cross member, had no front brakes, and drove home about 200 miles on just the e-brake. No flat though! .

Yes, there are a few places that will make you a proper adapter out of 6061 T6 aluminum. This one goes from 120.65mm (Corvette C6 hub) to 120mm (BMW-spec aftermarket wheel). It is a just little over an inch thick at 1.063". It's pretty hard to get them much thinner than this, I had to grind down the lug nuts and shorten the studs to make them work.

if 16 otherwise makes more sense, maybe you could swap a rear to front and run the 16 on the rear if you got a flat up front. more work, but how often do you get flats?

Those spacer kind of look like the Vette Brake Products spacers, they used to make ones to use C3, C4, and some C5 wheels on 2nd gen F bodies. They used to have a line of composite leafs, and a transverse front leaf setup (to replace coil springs), but there were issues surviving severe duty. But that's another story...
Still say you don't really need a spare. Motorcycles don't carry spares. If you wanted, you could buy an extra wheel like the ones you have, and tire, and just keep the full size at home. If you get a flat, have someone run the tire to you and swap it. Shoot, I don't even carry a jack. Heck if I'm going to use an OE jack on my endura, and carrying a floor jack or bottle jack presents it's own problems. When are you going to ever be more than say MAYBE 100 miles from a service station? Run all the scenarios where you might use a spare through your mind, and then figure out if the risk is worth carrying or not carrying a spare. .

H&R makes those spacers, not cheap about $175

I thought the H&R ones are hub centric?
I know Vette Brakes didn't make theirs, so might be where they sourced them from, not sure. They look identical to the ones I've seen in person though. EDIT: Ah, I see those b-man posted are in fact hub centric. .

I have a full size spare for my car, 18x9" that fits both front and rear. It's a 245/45-18 so it will match the height of the rear tires and still fit in the front, A-body cars have enough room in the trunk unlike F-body cars.
