Default My '66 GTO is coming back together!

Started my restoration about a year ago. Decided to do a frame off. Frame is powder coated and all suspension components replaced. New fuel lines, brake lines, fuel tank. Original engine and tri power completely rebuilt. Trunk and rear wheel wells had some rust so put in all new sheet metal. Things are now coming back together. Currently fitting fenders, trunk deck, hood and doors to check for alignment prior to paint. I plan to drive the car to the Good Guys show in Des Moines, Iowa on the July 4th weekend. Looks like I am going to make it. It has been a fun project!

DSM, what size tires and rims do you have on the front? Looks good so far. Glad to see another 66 coming back together.

Sorry about the delayed response. The tires are 225/70/R14's on 14X7 inch Keystone Classics. I am going to put on 225/70/R15 Diamondback Redlines on 15X7 Rallye 1's

Very nice. When I was a teen back in the day, I never liked Keystones...but they have grown on me. They look great with that car.

The Keystones are decent looking "period" wheels. I may have to keep them around to occasionally switch from the Rally 1's. It's always amazing to me how much wheels can change the look of a car.

Yeah, it's hard to choose....but redlines and Rally Ones would be hard to beat with the K code paint.

The paint for the underside is U-Tech 3.8 HSP urethane mixed 50/50 with flattener. It also utilizes an activator. The mix with the flattener yielded what I believe to be a close match to the original factory color.

Paint going on! The fresh Marina Turquoise looks amazing. Will have all paint sprayed today. Will reassemble all body panels and start hanging bright work and bumpers tomorrow. It's almost done. Will post pictures of the completed job by the end of this week. Looks like I will make the GoodGuys show on Friday.
