Default '70 to ' 73 Headlamp Bezels

So what's the deal on '70 to '73 headlamp bezels. I ordered new ones that were listed as '70 to '73. They arrived in Parts Place boxes labeled '70 to '73 F-Bird(didn't order from Parts Place) and are completely different than the ones on the "72 Black Car, and don't look like they will fit. Admittedly I did not try real hard once I saw how different they were. What's the short story? Wrong part in right box or is there more to the story?

They will work but they are not the greatest quality. I would rechrome your originals.

I bought reproductions for my '71 from Classic Industries about 10 years ago now. They seem to fit good and look good. Might be the only repop that actually was worth buying.

That's about the same place and time I bought mine. I was pleased with them as well.

I bought these from Classic Ind. as well. $95 each or so and I was proud I got 20% discount. I will look more closely tomorrow, but they are definitely different than the ones currently on the car. They are deeper from front to back, and I think they only have two mounting screws. I'll post pictures tomorrow.

Are the bezels from '70 through '73 supposed to be the same and interchangeable?

I've always heard 70 bezels were different from 71-73 but I've never had a 70, only 71's & 72's.

Problem identified. Right box, wrong part. They are part number 492667 which is '74 -'76.
Crap....

That's what I was thinking before you answered your own question. The 74-75 are deeper.

Also, there is a left and right side for the 70-73s. If I recall correctly the black car may have two lefts or two rights on it. I never could tell which was wrong. But they looked nice so I didn't remove them.

You sir, are a perfectionist. :-)

Now get outside and drive that darn thing before you start painting it!

Steve, the bezels have LH or RH cast into them next to the part number on the back.

Yes, '70 has some slight differences from the other 3 years. They will physically interchange.
