.5++ BSFC at lower rpm with that lean A/F ? sounds like it wants way more timing to.

@ 5200
► 14.38 A/F * (53.2 Fuel A lbs/hr + 81.3 Fuel B lbs/hr) = 1934.11 lbs/hr mass air flow (about the 423 scfm shown) which is about 56.5 VE

Accidentally posted before all information was in. This was my version of first dyno experience where power was down from where expected. 498 cid, 9.3 compression, Butler ED heads, 240's cam/.600 lift. Did not pull past 5200 as something did not seem right. Added 5 degrees timing, no change. Minus 5 degrees timing, no change. Swap to known good carb, lost 10 hp.

Feel free to ask questions or guess as to what problem may be. Just thought it would be fun to see if anyone can figure out problem was.

Down to .381 lb./HP-hr @ 5,200? Something seems wrong in the valvetrain. Is cam phasing considerably away from split-overlap?
Or- something terribly wrong on the fuel-supply side?

Ahhh,so you already know.

Trying to trick us into making fools of ourselves?

Some of us dont need any help to do that,LOL.

Whatever it was it looks like it was absolutely killing the engines VE.

I dunno,my WAG,incorrect cam timing -or- improperly adjusted rockers?

Valves open when they should'nt be can defintely do stuff like that.

What do we win if we guess correctly???

Very interesting that whoever was running the dyno chose to end the pull very close to the 5250 rpm point!

I`ve used a half baked large potato to stop a friends car from starting once as a joke, quite effective with a single exh!

Not knowing how things were setup, a WAG based on the great difference between Fuel A and Fuel B. I would ask if both sides of the carb opened all of the way.

14.38 * 81.3 * 2 = 2338.188 lbs/hr mass air flow - This would be between 69 and 70% VE.

Forgot to turn the fuel pump on?
Fuel tank on ground and pump can't suck the fuel up?
Fuel line about 1/4" diameter?
Fuel Regulator not working?
Vent line clogged?

Also what fuel? Gas, E85, Alcohol?

Probably a 1000 things it could be, need a lot more data.

Also, the BSFC don't seem to compute correctly from the Air and fuel used?
( I get like .219 for 5000RPM?)

Was the dyno hooked up?

Was it a car dyno or an engine dyno?

John,

► (53.2 + 81.3) / .381 = 353.0183727034121 Uncorrected HP @ 5200

► 379.7 / 353.0183727034121 = 1.075581412639405 Dyno correction factor

Thanks, Stan.

I was using just one of the fuel data.
Why are there 2 read outs on the fuel?
