Default "Ran When Parked"

You see this all the time in sale ads, esp CL...

Can someone explain this.....

Maybe they should add that the engine was turned off then too?

How about a doc saying "he was breathing until he died..."

Or "boat was floating until it sank..."

What else ya got???

Since you brought it up: what's with all the "one owner" cars all of a sudden?

What exactly does that mean? Is that the original owner? Or "one guy" downstream from the original owner?

In 2003 I bought a 65 Buick Wildcat to part out from an old farmer, car was sunk well into the ground. I asked him why it was there, he said "it was hell on gas, so I just parked it there, back around 1978 I think..it ran fine up til then, just used too much gas." The old guy had no reason to lie..he wasn't even trying to sell it, I approached him about buying it. Had to fill the 401 with old trans fluid and let it soak for over 2 weeks to break it loose.

The tires had no wear at all, when I ran over the spike strip.

I just bought a 1969 Catalina rusted out bomb that has been parked since the mid 80's. it runs like a well oiled sewing machine. I have no idea why it was parked because the odometer shows only 77,000 miles.

I know where there is a 73 Mercury that was parked (drove to the spot) in 1978 because it used too much gas. Its a 460 with a C6 and a 9" rear. He parked it at his inlaws farm. Never asked, just pulled it in the yard and left it. So this also "ran until parked" Doubt if it would run anymore.

Also love "gently used"

About 13 years ago, I bought a one owner 64 Bonneville convert. It was really owned by the person who bought it new. Which is why I bought the car.

Was it a rusted out bomb when parked, or did it get that way from sitting?

"Drove it there not long ago. "

Now there is a tree grown up between the front bumper and the tires are rotted off the rims. I don't think they have a good handle on time.

I did buy a 70 GP-J that "was running when i parked it " and it cranked up and ran even on the old gas. This is one time the guy wasn't stretching the truth.
