leaf spring bushing ? cal trac
I am getting ready to paint the leaf springs. Later I will use cal trac's. They supply a front bushing. Does it go against the spring or into the factory bushing the rubber fits into. I need to know so I only take out what is needed for the cal tracs, the rubber bushing or the metal sleeve that is pressed on the leaf spring? See photo. Thanks

You will need to remove the inner metal sleeve for cal trac bushings.

They send you an alum. bushing that replaces the factory rubber bushing. So the whole thing goes. Getting those rubber bushing out can be alot of fun, I can tell you that.

I have found its easiest to do them the way we used to do semi bushings, torch. Heat the crap out of them push/prod/poke the rubber out then let it cool down. Die grind a line along the inner sleeve and it will fall out.
Best to do it outside.

How do you keep the bushings from catching on fire?
