Proportioning Valve
I bought a disc brake conversion it and it doesn't have a Proportioning Valve. Now I need one and can't find one. It's a 72 Lemans. Where can I get one for it? I'm going to the junkyard tomorrow to see if I can find any. What cars will bolt up and work with it? Thanks

Chris,
I wouldn't trust my safety to a junkyard proportioning valve. Give Performance Years a call. That's the company that hosts this site. They should be able to get you what you need. Just give them some details about your application. They are not expensive. I think they run about $75.00. Not a lot of money to pay for your safety! performanceyears.com Performance Years Pontiac 2880 Bergey Road Unit O Hatfield, PA 19440 Phone 215-712-7400 Fax 215-712-9968 Hours-EST # Monday-Thursday 8:15-6:30pm # Friday 8:15am-5:00pm Email: sales@performanceyears.com

Ditto what the Freak says.
I did a recent front disc upgrade and used the kit from SSBC. Also needed a proportioning valve and called Inline Tube for mine - http://www.inlinetube.com/ PF

I no longer have that beautiful 66 in my Avatar. whaaa! When a cat is dropped it always lands on its feet. When buttered toast is dropped it always lands with the buttered side facing down. If a piece of buttered toast was attached to the back of a cat, when dropped, the cat/buttered toast combination should hover, spinning just above the ground, as it tries unsuccessfully to resolve the inevitable conflict of non-scientific certainties. |

I've already tried PY and all the others. No one has them. I saw the adjustable ones in summit. Is that going to be the best way to go? How do you hook those up? Does anybody know what car's prop valve will work for it temporary?

For factory style I would guess a disc/drum proportioning valve from any 68-72 GM a-body vehicle (Chevelle, Cutlass, etc.) would work fine... and I wouldn't necessarily be scared of salvage parts. Most of my entire car is from a junkyard... and it's great! Just as long as its not all rusted to heck... just be sure to bleed the system properly after you complete the install. Front discs are NICE!
