stopping battery acid
What will stop battery acid from returning after it has been washed off? I soaked my battery tray in baking soda, rinsed it,soaked it ,wire brushed it,etc. Then primed and painted with Rustoleum and now, less than a year later I can see it showing up. Will anything work permanently or should I just buy a new tray? The one I have now is a repro so it's no biggie if I have to replace it.

I took my tray out blasted it, prepped, primed & painted it.
I then cut a rubber sheet to fit under the battery, has been working well to prevent this issue. IIRC they sell these sheets for this purpose. But I still remove my battery each season to be sure.

Make sure your charging system is not over charging the battery.
Over charging of more than 14.7 volts will boil the acid out of the battery and onto the tray.

If it's not currently being shown or judged get a sealed cell/gel cell battery like an optima. There are other options as well.

x3 on the optima. I know they are expensive but they are worth it and last longer.

Or a Die Hard Platinum. Expensive, made by Odyssey, and worth every nickel.
