unbelievable $44,000 trans am
I can't believe the stuff that people try to sell. See the picture below. This is on a $44k trans am.
The car is here: https://www.gatewayclassiccars.com/A...ebird-Trans-Am.

Is that a true survivor car or an old restoration? The price is high to me but I don't know much about Trans-Am values.

For 44K you would think they would replace that 10 dollar headlight.

Curious, what can an Olds 403 TA command?
Not sure I’ve ever seen such a price for Olds powered Pontiac.
Anyone bother to track such prices? The 403 immediately causes me to lose interest. One man’s opinion though

The odo is showing the 'misaligned' characteristics of one that has rolled over (in this photo anyway).

There's what someone will ask, and there's what someone will pay.
$44K for an Olds powered TA with a 100 MPH speedo and very poor attention to detail? Not me.

79 is not supposed to have the bird on the gas door. 79 has no emblem.

You guys are good! If I decide to buy one, I should post here first for vetting.
I would prefer thePontiac powered car of course, but the 403 doesn't bother me too much. There's some stuff on line indicating they can run ok. At my 55 years, I am looking for auto/A/C. I like the '79 bandits.

Good golly Miss Molly. A 6.6 with a TH350? Really?
It's not a Bandit, that was '77. '79 was the 10-Year Anniversary T/A. The only '79 T/As worth money are the Special Anniversary Editions, and then only if they had the Pontiac 400. The 10th Anniversary T/A with the Olds motor barely hits $20K in value. What a joke. |

They are not Bandit trans ams, they are Special Editions. A continuation of the Limited Edition car produced in 1976 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Pontiac. This car could be one, it has all the details but I would have to look at the phs for sure. If that is the case, they garner a higher value than a regular trans am. This one doesnt look too bad. The average asking price for '79's is about 30k now (S.E a bit more). I dont know what they actually sell for but I would surmise a bit less. This looks to be a fairly honest car, and if it has all of the original metal work in good condition that adds to the value. It certainly isnt any worse than most others in the for sale category. As an owner of a couple of late 2nd gens, I could only hope they get the asking price.

I have a '78 S/E car I bought brand new(Still have it). I am so sick and tired of "Bandit" T/A's. There is no such thing as far as I am concerned anyway...Bandit look-alike or Bandit tribute, maybe. No such thing as T-Tops either...It is a T-Top, singular. The car only has one top. One step further "Removable roof hatches", that's what Fisher called them. JMO

All 2nd Gen Trans Ams are going up in value especially later 70's. A 79 Special Edition Y84 WS6 (Black & Gold) 400 4 speed high end examples are going for 100K+ with only 1,000 produced makes sense. So most people cant afford that so a 79 Y84 WS6, 403 Olds is the next logical car to own, 9,000 were produced, who knows how many survived after 40 years. So if that car is a true Y84 he is not far off on price, try finding a TA without a cracked dash, radio cut out, t-tops area not rusted, trunk not rusted, rear impact bar mount not rusted, rear fender flare area not rusted and rear calipers that are not frozen. This Y84 403 looks to have every option even hobnail interior except for the 400 motor and 4 speed of course. Anyone who has ever driven a 2nd gen TA knows how well these handle and the 403 came stock with 320 ft/lbs of torque at 2200 rpm. Not to mention most 403 TAs came with highway 2.41 gears, swap those out and the car really comes alive. Most people who knock the 403 Olds TA usually have no idea what they are talking about
Y89 was the 10th Anniversary Trans Am 400 4speed 1,800 were produced and 403 3 speed auto 5,600 were produced. The black and gold Y84 are still the most desirable and we all know why but there were Y84 and Y89 produced in 79.
