Rear disks from a 88-98 f body
I read an article from Car Craft, 2012, that showed using the rear disk brakes from a 1988-1998 f body on a 2nd gen. Has anyone done this, and if so how did you hook up the emergency brake? I would only need the mounts, calipers, pads, and rotors would be bought new.

Actually those went up to '97 and had screw-type integral e-brake calipers . '98-'02's were drum-in-hat and I think a better design. I used the '98-'02 rears on my '66 GTO with 12-bolt, so should fit on your 10-bolt. Hydraulic hoses are supported by '94-'96 B-body brackets. I used the e-brake cables from the F-body and shortened and brazed on 3/8" dia round stock at the front ends to match orig early GM style. For my A-body I had to make cable brackets at the rear. Actually a pretty easy swap and a huge improvement over the late '70's rear disc.

Thanks for the detailed write up, that looks great. I’ll see what the junk yards still have around here.

Will they clear a 15” wheel?

No, but I don’t think the 1997 ones do either.
But I have heard that S10 Blazer rear discs do work with 15”. |
