Depends on weight and location I think, best price though.

Palletize it and deliver it, may have to be shrink wrapped.

Just sayin' ...Back when, I had to ship heavy auto items I used an HVAC distributor. They have the ability to ship heavy items at a corporate rate (nice an reasonable) At the time I had my HVAC business, so knowing someone there was nice. And they shipped from one distributor to another int he area of the buyer's address. Also I have used https://www.bikeflights.com/ I shipped 8 Hellcat wheels from Pittsburgh to Oregon for $400.00 and change. The buyer turned me on to that site.

X3 Fastenal

I crated parts (block, heads, intake, 200-4R) and shipped to Minnesota to an engine builder and got it back complete a few months later. Fastenal both ways.

Be aware that when getting a price, you will likely be dealing with a broker. If you can deal directy with an actual trucking company, then that's better. But they usually bid on the typical aggregate sites, like U-ship, etc. All I can add to that after shipping multiple cars and parts LTL is that you don't want to be the cheap guy that haggled for the lowest price.

If renting, have carried engines and trannys in the back of a minivan configured for two passengers before. Old tires are good to set it on.

Last month i shipped an NV4500 transmission from Mississippi to Virginia thru Fastenal. Cost was $177 for 240lbs. With pallet.

Back in November, send a pickup transmission tunnel to NY for $37. Priced one to N MS the other day for $96! These were thru UPS

Costs seem to be steadily rising.

OTOH was just thinking I bought a nice 88 Reatta two decades ago for $5k. Last year I bought a nice 89 Allante for the same. I still have some hedges against inflation.
