What’s the deal with 1973 furry fuzzy hoses?
So I just picked up this longer hose as a spare for my 1973 TA, even though I already have a really nice one. My plan was to cut it down to the same size as mine, but maybe I shouldn’t?
Does anyone know what car this longer one came from (73 Grand Prix, Grand Am, or GTO maybe?) and is the longer hose desirable in its own right, besides the 73 TA application? My o.g. 73 air cleaner hose has 12 ribs and is 10 1/2” long. The other one has 15 ribs and is 14” long. My o.g. hose has a kinda translucent film on the interior, that the longer one doesn’t seem to have. |

This will be good, a lot of wrong info on these hoses. Someone here told me all the longer ones were for a GP. Lol. Let’s hear wheat you guys say.

Yes. The longer hose 489909 started use in the '73 G-body (Grand Prix). Most other bodies (A-, B-, and F-body) used the shorter 489908 hose. X- body used the 489910 unit. Parts book stated '76-up used the 489909 unit.
