Default Help with 69 front light harness

I am hoping someone can help me with the routing for my new front wire harness. I have a 1969 GTO with hideaways that were added many years after the car was built. The 69 shop manual has a generic wire routing diagram that is intended for every Pontiac produced, and it isn't very helpful. I know the harness travels along the top of the radiator core support, but that is about it. My question, do I need to remove the front bumper and valance to properly route the harness, or should I be able to do it with them in place? It looks like I will need to judging from how the original wire harness is routed. However, since my car has been worked on previously, I don't know if this factory correct or has been changed. Currently I can't remove the harness without either cutting it or removing the front bumper as it is routed between the core support and a bumper bracket. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi oldgoat455-
I removed my front clip to redo my engine bay last fall. If I remember correctly I did have to remove both the front bumper and the valance to get the light wiring harness off. Both come off easily. I would go that route before cutting the existing harness. I'm sure others will chime in. Welcome to the forum!

That's what I was thinking. I have had both valence and bumper off the car in the past, not hard, just didn't want to do anything that was unnecessary. Thanks for the welcome and your help. I've been a member for some years now, just have not posted as I can usually find answers in previous posts.

Default Hello

I am with
Charles

If you want to hook it up correctly the ground wires are screwed in to the front upper corners of the core support ... and almost impossible to get to with bumper on..
