Unhappy 1974 Formula Firebird 350 with missing Cowl tag !

I went and looked at a nice 1974 Formula Firebird 350 survivor car with only 25000 miles on it, I was ready to buy it until I noticed the cowl tag was gone ??? I can't purchase this car can I ?

As long as the VIN tag is there and untouched, I see no reason not to. The cowl (or trim) tag isn't that important and was held in place by glue and screws. But, the price should reflect that it is missing though.

I agree. If the car is legit otherwise, buy it, just make sure you research the **** out of it to know or sure. You can always get a cowl tag reproduced using the PHS docs as proof of what the car is. There are lots of places that have been doing this for years to fake non Pontiacs which can do it for you, thank god for PHS.

Good looking car! Tell us more about it option wise. Looks to have deluxe interior.

Is that color original? Looks really metallic in that picture.

as soon as you can I'd pull the air shocks off the car to save the rear suspension on your new buy. Air shocks kill the way these cars drive. It was the thing to do back in the 70's but believe me you don't want them on there now.

Thanks everyone, Yes the car has black deluxe interior with rally steering wheel, console, window crank. Color is ascot silver, had one repaint due to a lower quarter panel patch on the driver side. Radial Tuned Suspension with fat sway bar in front and rear sway bar as well. I have the original 15 X 7s rally II wheels that came with the car. 350 dual exhaust with turbo 350 and open rear end.

I removed my cowl tag when I was painting the cowl. It's made out of something that was half corroded away. My point is, it was attached with screws and is currently somewhere else in the garage; I could easily see someone losing it or forgetting to put it back on.
