Default Freedom Tower

How cool is this....Back on the road after trading suitcases and this is the view from my hotel window - the Freedom Tower and the beginnings of the entryway to the subway and rail connections to the NY financial district. Humbling.

Cool Bob, how long are you in town for?

Just a day and a half. Came in today and flying back out tomorrow evening. Wish I had time to get up and see your stuff and have a beer. I'll be back a couple times before years end and I'll try to find a way to get up to your neighborhood. What exit are you off of 95 and how far are you from that point. My favorite brother in law is in Ridgefield and I think you're just a town or two over.

Is the concrete down?

No concrete yet, exit 11 off 84, half hour from Ridgefield.

Next time let me know - I'll shoot down to the city & we can grab dinner.....or I could just meet you at 859 Washington Street between 9th & 10th.

Looking good. I worked in the World Trade Center in 2000. I'm looking forward to the day when the site isn't still a big construction pit.

I worked in the city from '85 - 'late '92. We had a site on the 105th floor of Tower 2. I really like that the PA officially changed the name to One World Trade Center. It's what we all new it as.

Default Never Forget...

One of my meetings today was at 7 World Trade Center. This is one of the smaller buildings that will comprise the group of buildings at this site. Below are photos taken from the conference room we met in today. These are of the Trade Center Memorial. The black squares are the original foundation footprint of the twin towers.

I work in Manhattan a couple of times a year for the last 2 decades and have watched ground zero being rebuilt. The memorials are amazing!

Boss, I used to spend summers in Ridgefield when I was growing up at my grandparents lake house. Still have a cousin that lives there. Beautiful area.

Cool photos, I have been keeping track of the WTC entire project over at this forum-
Skyscraperpage.com, its a real cool site to dig through, lots of photos & info.
I've watched the WTC rise from a hole in the ground for a few years now.

Here is a link to the thread about the construction of "One World Trade Center"
http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/show...3628&page=1687

If you dig back a bunch of pages you'll get the inside scoop on all the B.S. about the spire being cheapened due to budget costs, politics etc.

I believe there is also a movie being filmed time lapse style of the entire project.
If I find the link I'll post it....It was friggin' crazy to see hurricane sandy move over NYC in high speed.

Anytime I head into Philly or NYC I check on that website, and I look like a genius when I point out to friends or family the name & progress on "some random building under construction"

Back in NYC and another meeting at 7 World Trade Center. Here are some updated pictures of the site showing changes since October 2013. Still pretty humbling. Wish I had time to visit the now open museum.

We stopped to visit the memorial when we were in NYC last Thanksgiving. I think it's really well done, and a fabulous tribute.
