Default This things connected to that thing? Seriously though...

So I have a couple things under the hood of my '73 Formula that appear to have been disconnected for years. I assume they should have vacuum hoses on them? Since there are 3 ports on each, are they supposed to be connected to each other? I know there is a temp activated switch/sensor similar to this up front in the coolant crossover, but honestly I know nothing about these two. The fact that they are unhooked has no bearing on the how well the car runs(it runs strong). However, after I clean things up, I'd like to have everything "how it was". So, how was it?

It's an emission control device to go between the distributor and manifold for vac advance. If hooked up, will remove vac advance from you distributor unless in high gear. Look up "TCS system" in the search bar.
