Default Brake light wiring

Hi Folks,

Aside from the fact that my passenger side brake light does not work, the taillight wiring in the trunk of my '66 GTO is simply a mess and needs to be replaced.

My car is in storage back home (out of state) and I'd like to order the parts I need now so that I can get it roadworthy when I'm home again in the spring or summer. Unfortunately, this means I can't simply go outside and look at it myself, so I was hoping someone here might be able to help me out by reminding me where the taillight wiring loom makes its connection. If my memory serves me, it connects to a flat ribbon of wires in the trunk near the backside of the rear seat on the driver's side?

Also, I'm open to any and all suggestions for taillight wiring kits. There are a number of options, and I'm sure some are better than others. I'd be curious to hear personal testimonials.

Thanks!

You are correct on the hook-up location. I used M&H for all the wiring in my 67 and am well satisfied with it. Part number is 08275 for 66 GTO coupe.

I had issues with mine. Ended up being it wasn't making a good ground. The housing should make a ground to the body with the posts, but in previous restos so much was painted that it didn't make the ground anymore.

Thanks for the recommendation, guys. Sounds like M&H is the way to go.

As far as troubleshooting the grounds with my existing wiring, the rear lamp harness is so butchered by previous owners that it's a liability. I'm not going to take any more time working on it than it takes to throw it in the garbage.

Thanks, guys! Much appreciated. I need to get out there and take more photos. I've been kind of lazy in that department lately.

X3 on the coolness of the photos! You should take more of your 66 Goat when you get a chance, you definitely have talent. Wish you could take pics of mine
