Here's a few pictures from today's trip to the Taj Mahal. In the spirit of PY I will keep this first post transportation related. This place is wild. I never considered a motorcycle to be a means of family transportation, but today I saw many, many instances of motorcycles carrying as many as 3 adults and 2 children. Also noteworthy was that only the adult male would wear a helmet. I assume everyone else was expendable. In addition, motorcycles are work vehicles here. Carrying everything from 55 gallon drums to multiple 20 gallon cans of milk. Americans are so spoiled. I would love to see those who whine and moan get plopped down in this country. Natural selection would sort things out quickly. Work or die is the mantra here.

Wow, what a different culture. Like you said, what we take for granted and what they have to do over there.

Do any American, V-8 powered cars show up on the roads there?

And, by the way, car is looking fantastic. I will not be able to make MCACN, but hope to see it at TA Nats next August.

Great experience Bob! Think how good the Bourbon will taste sitting in First Class on the trip home!

I would love to travel to India with the couple that worked with me. They are also from a wealthy family (brother owns a large hospital and travels to US annually to raise money from all his Indian relatives) and high in the Caste system. There are parts of that country that are stunningly beautiful and others that are depressingly impoverished.

Funny how just the males wear the helmet.

Wasn't the '64 Mustang slated to start being produced as a new vehicle in India a couple years back?
I think I read something to that effect in Hemmings Muscle Machines...
IIRC the story did go on to say that they would not be able to export it to North America for some reason...
So there should be some "American" car around there.
Thanks for sharing bits from your trip!

It's always sobering when you get to see how other societies live - tells you what is really important.

As hard as it can be here - we have it easy.

Great images Bob, thanks for sharing them.

Default The Black Car has a new caretaker

Here's a few pictures from Old Delhi. This is back in the market area where the streets are two rickshaws wide. This goes on for miles and miles. It's noteworthy that the signs are in English. India has over 160 dialects so English is the universal language. Also check out the wiring. Where the transportation stuff amazed me yesterday, today it was the wild mass of wires. I've decided that this is due mainly to the fact that whenever anyone has a wiring issue, the rats nest is so bad the problem cannot be solved except by running a new wire. The market area these pictures were taken in is where wedding goods are sold.

The one building is a Sikh temple, and the other is the Red Fort which was built by the same leader that constructed the Taj Mahal.

I think Darrell has this covered no thanks to me. I'm still in Barcelona screwing around and trying to sell enough coal to pay the bills. He's pretty much cut me off from a picture standpoint for some reason, but here are the most recent ones he sent me earlier this week.

Darrell's got it covered. We'll see everyone at MCACN with a flock of Formula Firebirds! Now, if I could find a couple of 70's I'd be a whole lot happier.

Bob, the car looks amazing and I have no doubt that you (er...Darrell and MPD) will have the car done in time of MCACN. By the way, did you take any Sweet Apple Pie with you to help close a few deals in India and Spain?

It's in cruise control now...

With style and no glitches. Amazing game plan coming together.

Looks like the Black Car is going to make MCACN. Darrell and his team at Supercar Creations have done an incredible job. I'm OCD and hard to impress, but these guys have knocked it out of the park. There are still a few details to finish up, but mainly they just need to get the dust blown off, load it in the trailer, and head west.

There are people that talk the talk, and those that walk the walk. Darrell is the real deal and I should have made a left turn on I-77 to start with instead of wasting time and money in Georgia. Screw me once shame on you, screw me twice shame on me. I won't make that mistake again.

Having said that, I've been trying to get Darrell to send a burnout video, but so far no luck. Maybe we'll do one in the Donald Stephens Convention Center.

I look forward to next week. The friendships, the cars, and the Apple Pie...
