That is a lot of it .... to be honest, as I get older and my only concern it not just getting laid .... I can appreciate many more things, as now my wife will hate whatever it is, so it doesn't matter

Nice score North! Looks like it was very well taken care of. Is there anything Pontiac made in 69 you don't own? I know you can't wait to drive it. Please post more pics when you can.

My dad bought a brand new 1969 Custom S...I learned how to drive in that car in 1985. Those 69's had the big battering ram nose!

Just back from vacation and the car hasn't been picked up yet (passport is doing the haul). I'll post some pics when I get it.

In terms of what else I'm looking to add to the 69 collection? Apart from the obvious; a Judge and a TA I'm also looking for a LeMans Safari and 2 and 4 door sedan Tempest or Custom S.

That would cover the missing model names (Tempest and Custom S are the only models I don't have represented) and the only body styles I'm missing are a Firebird hardtop and the A body wagon, 2 and 4 door sedans. Engine wise it would be nice if one of the sedans could be a 1bbl six and a RA IV on the TA or Judge to fill another gap.

I ordered my 69 H-O in Nov. 68 with the deluxe type, I show the car depending on my mood with the deluxe, the wire wheel covers or the Rally 2's.
I should have put vent wings on it. Very doable.

North,

I really like the car. It was so typical of the kind of car my family would put in the new car inventory at the Pontiac dealer we use to own and operate. I remember fooling around with that type of car on the showroom floor when I was a kid. Then I would hear Dad say "Get out of there, Kid I have to sell that car". Then I would on to the next car.

I currently have a 1969 GTO in the same color combination going through a body on restoration.. The item that is holding up progress is the front bumper. That thing had so many cracks in it...Oh MY!!!!

Good luck with the car.

My GTO hardtop was also the exact same color combo but I dropped the Cordova when I repainted her.

This 4dr LeMans just smells of ordered for dealer inventory. The number of options (10-12) are selected to make the car right in its sweet spot price wise. Because it's a LeMans and a hardtop it has to have a little extra sparkle to justify the step up over the say 4 door sedan Custom S but not too much to price it out of its market. So you add the fancier custom caps and a vinyl top so it looks better than the lower models wearing deluxe caps and monotone.

My executive 4dr sedan is like that, pretty standard with ps, pb auto and AC but since it's an executive they added pw and a power seat for comfortable interstate travel and a clear step up over Cats. But not so many options that it starts bumping Bonneville territory and risk becoming a showroom wallflower.

On the other hand my Firebird was obviously not a dealer order with lots of decor options like tinted windows, custom caps, wood wheel, console, decor group and pricey stuff like gauges and 8 track. And all this on a manual trans 6 cylinder convertible without steering or brakes! If I were the dealer I'd want a hefty deposit before ordering that car because good luck finding another buyer for an over $4,000 six banger with manual everything!!

My Bonnie Brougham rag top must have been a tough sell with its 34 options and mid $6k pricing. The dealer bought it for his wife but I bet he took a bit hit 6 months later selling it as a demo. That was deep in caddy money for a lowly Pontiac.

Finally got the 4dr LeMans home today, 3 1/2 months after buying it and 2 1/2 months after giving passport the order to ship it (they promised me 2 to 4 weeks).

On a better note I’m very happy with the car. Zero rust or no do in the car (except for a bit of bubbles under the vinyl around the back window) , the interior is just minty and 100% original down to the mats. Trunk has original speckle paint in great shape. Undercarriage has light dealer undercoat from 69 and zero rust also.

Didn’t get a chance to drive it yet but tires are fresh and suspension seems tight. Exhaust is junk so a call to Waldron is in order. The back was too high thanks to coil over shocks, original rear coils still there.

Another bit of good news is that those ugly side moldings are just stick on so they are coming off

Car had one repaint many years ago, presentable quality and condition. Front bumper is a bit bent out of shape and grilles were spray painted for some reason, I have nice spares though.

Tail light bezels are spotless with no pitting whatsoever.

Overall very satisfied, a winter of detailing and some mechanical freshening over the winter should result in a nice end product.

Yep ... can't wait till my GTO is finished and gone ... so I can buy something like that. I an soooooo very tired of the "must be correct" thing.

Thats just a crazy cool car. When you think about it, a car like this is so much more rare as most were never garage queens. they were just driven until they no longer servers a function. Years ago I would hardly look at a 4 door with hubcaps, now I find it more fascinating than most muscle cars on the road.

Is that jack base in the trunk the same one I am looking for in my 68? I can;t believe how many style of those jacks are out there & how many people say they are correct. Must be 6 different "correct & original" jacks for my car.

I agree. I have been trying to make my GTO as correct as I can, but when something just doesn't appeal to me at all, I divert from it & will probably get criticized by some for doing so. But, I am not selling my car, its been a decade + long project that I want to be happy with too. So, I am making everything as correct as I can as long as I don;t have a strong preference. I had a really hard time painting the backside of my glove box door blue. That just looks so goofy on a GTO.

Anyway, Post more picts when you can North. Never gets old looking at your original cars. Amazing stuff.
