This is the exact impression I got when I saw Stir Crazy at the theatre. I think that was the first Gene Wilder movie I ever watched.

Same impression here. And that carried through his other movies too IMHO.

NPR just re-aired an excellent Terry Gross interview with Wilder from 2005. I know they are also accessible through their website as a podcast as I often use that media when I cannot catch a radio broadcast.

OHHHH Sweet Mystery of Life I've Found You. Not sure if this is an exact quote
but one of the best lines from Young Frankenstein. Silver Streak was always my
favorite of his movies, but him and Pryor were great in all the ones they were in together.
Remember the guy with the Bug Eyes in Young Frankenstein. That guy was great
and his screen name was Igor. Now that's Mel Brooks Comedy stuff, and in todays
world he would be an old slap sticker, but back then he was genius and wrote most of
Wilders Movies. Sad day for classic Comedy.

He had a small but funny part in Bonnie & Clyde. He played an Undertaker that had his car stolen.

The first movie I saw him in was Sherlock Holmes Smarter Brother with Marty Feldman. I always liked his stuff and he was one of a kind and he will be missed.
