Here's the headlight switch after we pulled it out (and the new one going in). The rheostat spring wire was pulled out of it's nesting area in the switch and was hanging down after melting itself to the plastic rotating piece. My son saw some smoke so I turned the lights off (headlights and running) after about an hour of driving. It was toast. Fortunately, the local Car Quest had a switch in stock that worked/fit great, so we're back in business.

You're confusing that with the one they had for the white car.

A ghost that drives is far more serious than one that turns on/off lights.

LOL!!! That's a good one Chris! Mike had a driver ghost and I had a pyro ghost. I hope he's gone for good (so does Mike I'm sure).

Question

No update for almost a month? Surely there is a burn out video on somebodies iPhone!

Hey Bob!

Sorry, it's been crazy busy with family matters lately, but that is over now and time for some car fun again.

Going to Norwalk? Dan & I will be there and I'm contemplating driving the Formy down to display while we help Pete & Andi Woodruff on the show side of the event. I know they let show cars go down the track during cool downs for the race cars....that would be fun to not only do "the" required burnout, but see what the old HO can do (I suck at racing sticks!).

The front bumper needs a little adjustment and tightening due to dropping a bit on its maiden voyage last month, so that needs to be done before I take the car anywhere. That is if Dan has the time before we leave for Norwalk to work on it.

Dan is bringing the truck and trailer, so I have a back up plan if anything goes wrong.

Nothing like a road trip to find the weak links and the problems that need to be fixed next. The 620 mile round trip to the TA Nationals in Dayton revealed a terrible heat-soak issue with the starter & solenoid (fortunately negated with and garden sprayer and hammer at every stop along the way); windshield wipers that don't work (fortunately we RainX-ed the windshield before the trip because we found heavy rain on the way back home); and a constipated gas tank that would only let you dribble gas into it to keep it from barfing it back out and all over your body (10 minutes to fill 10 gallons of gas).

Otherwise, it was a successful road trip down and back. Despite the 90 + degree temps and awful high humidity the entire weekend, the coolant temps stayed rock-solid at 185 on the highways and 170 in town driving. It also still is in the 14+ mpg range with the factory 3.42 gears.

Jody, No, I'm not that comfortable racing it yet and won't have time to upgrade the starter and gas tank between now and then. Even if I could, I have too much work to do with Dan and Lyndon running the show for everyone else to race and enjoy.
