That was a NOM and a SR carb car, correct?? car looks sweet, and please don't take my next comment offensively, but how does a non matching car get the 3rd highest score for 70-73 Firebirds?? Not sure if it says something about the car or judging?? assuming this is the NOM/SR car I heard about this weekend..

Thanks for the compliments. I dont judge at the nats so I could not tell you. I know they do not check motor codes. Actually out of all the 70 to 73's it was the highest scored car. I got beat by a 74 that Steve restored and a 76. I have a few reason why it might have scored well.

1. I was out drinking with the judges the night before.
2. I try not to act like a ass to other people.
3. Maybe the resto on the car was better than the other cars?
4. I had the best restored hood latch out of all the cars.
5. I got lucky because Scott and Tom did not bring one of their restored cars to the show.

Now that's funny
I saw your car at both the Nats & Mecum and it is outstanding. Congrats on the sale.

LOL... I'm going with #3.

I saw it at the nationals and the car was fantastic (and I cannot wait to see the blue one he is working on). The new owner bought it well. Congrats on the sale!

70RAIII- basically to get in the stock class at the nationals the car has to be accurate for the year, but not numbers matching. Once in the car is in the class it is then judged on the presentation against other cars in that class.

Beautiful car. I'd say the buyer got a good deal. I'm sure it cost more than that to restore to that level.

I guess thats what the car was worth. I know the block hurt the car but I knew that before I restored it. The block did not have a VIN stamp but all the other codes where correct. I'm sure whoever bought the car will enjoy it. Its got a lot going for it. They are going to have to sort a few things out on it. I only put 5 to 10 miles on the car. I did correct a lot of things after the TA nats that I was not happy with. If I had kept the car I would have done a few more things to take it to another level. The problem with these frame off cars is they are hard to drive when you finish them because you want to keep them fresh. On to the next. I sold it in order to get another T/A. No more AC cars for me.
