please nobody take this as a jab;
But I was three when this movie came out, so I have never seen it.

I do occasionally look for "car" movies, and I have come across this one, but have never read any really good reviews for it.
This along with Tony Danza(!?) and the IMDB rating made me think this was a "pass"...

Back when I was in high school, my brothers and I would go to the video rental store and look for "car" movies - most were terrible, but on occasion one was good.
One that I never was able to fully watch - because the tape ate itself early on - was "Eat my Dust" (I had to look it up just now, and found it because of the guy from Happy Days - I couldn't remember Ron Howard's name!).

Used to watch it every Halloween. The yellow '57 was Popular Hotroddings Project X. If you watch when he is racing the Cobra there is a puff of smoke that goes over the 57s roof. They blew the engine on that run.

I have never heard of this movie until I saw this thread . I was on the fence renting it because Danza is hard to stomach but I’m glad I watched it ! I’m surprised this is never on .

Bingo!!

His acting worked great for 'Who's the boss', but that was a terrible 1980's comedy...

I also did not know that he drove 'project x' in the movie - the first link in this thread about 'project x' left me scratching my head - until that last video was shared.

I haven't closely followed 'project x', but I knew about it because it was in several magazines that I bought while in high school (read: in the 1990's).

You're probably too young to know the TV show "Taxi", Danza at his finest???
You should be old enough to have seen Lucky's Garage/Hot Rod Garage where Project X resurfaces. You'll have to find/watch those.

I know Taxi - and honestly I forgot about his role in that show probably because he had a much smaller role in that show;
several others in the cast made that show.

I don't subscribe to specialty paid streaming service outside of netflix;
IIRC Hot Rod Garage was one of those shows that you got when you paid for access to Hot Rod TV (or something along those lines)

They actually made it an EV car in 2021. I don't think GM is the brightest bulb in the box. GM, stay away from EV engines in classic cars.

And recently changed to the biggest GM Chevy engine made... the XX632 Big Block. Now it's a real car again. And keep Danza away from it. He can't handle 1004hp, or a manual tranny if it's still in it.

I would take a Briggs and Stratton over an EV. But personally think the blown small block is the perfect motor for the car.

I watched The Highriders from 1978 on youtube the other night. The star of the movie is a roached out '68 Firebird with a 'ported and relieved 427' under the hood. LOL....

It was worth the watch, if you're into old, campy, bad biker or hot rod flicks.
