This still the only repo battery place?
Just curious if this is still the place to get an oem looking top post battery. Sure not cheap!
Are these AGM under the plastic? Any new or other options in 2017? http://www.restorationbattery.com/r59.html .

Looks is like the one I got with the Judge when I purchased it. I am very satisfied and have never had any problems with it. I also have the battery maintainer, which I would suggest purchasing as well.

How old is your battery?
I have had great luck with batteries made by deka & some others. I only use deltran battery tenders to keep them charged after having a bad experience with some shumacher "maintainers". I bought a delco battery for a later 70's car I restored about 8 years ago. Battery is still perfect. So, if these hold up the same, I could get over the price tag. But, if they start showing physical issues in 2 years I would not be very happy. Not a cheap battery price wise. Does anyone know what construction they are, or who the 3rd party company is making them (assuming they are a private label)

Only place I know of that offers them. If you need one don't wait until you need it to order it cause they don't stock them. They make the battery after you order it so my experience has been 6 to 8 weeks delevery

I've used two of these so far in my '67, the first one lasted a good 10 yrs and I never put it on a battery tender, just unhooked it.

I'm fairly certain they use Odyssey AGM batteries.

Thanks!
Thoughts on correctness? Are those the right caps, or do you think its possibly a generic picture? I think I might give them a call and get a feel for what they are selling.

Since deka batteries are made by EastPenn, I would contact them directly for info on their batteries and who makes "antique" versions of their batteries. IMHO

Seems all replacement batteries are very expensive today. Usually scour the battery rack at the U Pull It for generic batteries. Heard from a friend that the previous administration shut down remaining domestic lead foundries, not sure if that is true.

The smelter shutdown due to issues that started under the Reagan Administration. This same smelter still operates a lead recycling facility here in the US. Lead batteries are recycled at a 98% rate making it the most recycled consumer product.

This type of battery can go bad without warning and boil acid
and wipe out all the paint in your engine compartment. I have battery toppers on all my old cars......they look great and when your battery goes bad, you buy one locally and swap out the topper and keep going. |
