I know this is for most the least desirable version, but - I love it. When it was still running I had excellent gas mileage and I used it as a daily driver for a few years. Three years back it was flooded, fully, for a few days. We cleaned and dried it, as best as we could. I think the engine is safeable, but I want to get rid of the stock carburetor and intake manifold as the car is really heavily underpowered. Many years back I had bought an Edelbrock intake and the 1402 carb for my V6. Accidentally found both now in my garage. This cannot be used with the computer unit that these cars have to reduce emissions, so the computer needs to go I guess. No idea how much better this setup might be , but I am a little hesitant to spend 4000 Euros for a 403 Olds that was offered to me.

What else do I need for this project? A distributor I guess that does not depend on the computer? Can mine be adapted? Can i still use the computer? Rockauto offers these, cannot imagine mine still works. What else? I am still in dismantling mode, but worry this is too difficult for me.

Any general advice? I am usually working on cars of the 40s and 50s. I am really not very used to work on my Firebird. Luckily, it survived the water very well and I don't want to give it up. 😄 Thanks and greetings from Germany. 😊 Hans

This distributor is very common, you can easily buy this off RockAuto for an earlier 1977-80 Firebird that does not require the 1981 CCM. You should be able to find all of the parts required to adapt the CCC controlled fuel delivery system on your standard V6 with parts online, it does not require much to be seperated from the computer. I'd be more concerned about wiring being flooded and damaged causing other issues. Very interesting someone sent a base model V6 Firebird all the way to Germany, is it Euro delivered Firebird?
