Default lock washer on a oil filter adapter

Have a kre adapter, was leaking some, finally figured out i had a washer that wasnt fitting right against the part, causing a leak.

Was wondering does it pay to use a lock washer like i have in the picture, or just just the bolt by itself................why it was loose when i removed it , is odd, because usually i tighten stuff well beyound what it has to be.

Thanks

Rich

Yeah, thats what i had on in the first pic, didnt fit tight against the adapter, the split washers in the 2nd pick look like they would work.........just wondering if just using the bolt would be good enough.............

As for the locktite im gonna use the blue stuff, this thing is a major pain to take off and put on with the dougs headers.............hopefully no leaks after this.

I use small washers and black permatex (very thin coverage) on both side of a Teflon gasket - had good luck - no leaks on any of my cars.

If the gasket is done right there should not be any oil on the head of that bolt.
I just use a 5/16 flat washer. They fit tight on a 3/8 bolt.

Try using AN washers and internal locking star washers. If you need to know where to purchase them PM me.

I've seen where the bolts are a hair too long, and they bottom out before applying enough crush on the gasket.

That's probably why the washer helped.

In those cases, it won't leak at idle, but under psi (pump) it will seep.
