The more I look at it the more it grows on me. Strange that the dash pad is perfect and looks original. Wire mesh is still on the cowl ducts, rear bumper straight, valance not all bashed to sh*t. Back seat looks great, front bumper looks like it fits well, hood doesn't have the usual hinge bend. Practically no rust in engine compartment, tail light lenses intact. Radio opening hasn't been all hacked up. And it runs.

Looks kind of like someone found a barn car, didn't touch it except for messing with the engine. Strange collection of good stuff and bad stuff. Doesn't look like it's been in any major collision. Would be interesting to know the story behind it.

That's exactly what draws me to it...at least as a curiosity. It looks almost as if you could swap out a lot of the sheetmetal and actually have a $16K car pretty much. Would love to see under the carpet and pics of it on a lift. Even the steering wheel looks 90% intact. Those wheels hardly ever survive that well.

Thing is, the steering wheel is still toast.. maybe you could sell it to someone who doesn't have a wheel and just wants one cheap, but between the crack at 12:00 and the heavily corroded brightwork, it still needs to be restored to be nice. You're either going to spend the money to replace it with a nicer wheel or spend even more money to have it restored, so either way it doesn't really matter because it's still not nice enough even for a driver.

Maybe I'm spoiled by clean west coast cars, but I wouldn't touch that one unless it was a small fraction of that price, and even then it'd only be to keep it as a severe beater. It's basically toast.

Well, obviously the entire car needs to be restored if that's important to the owner. Some folks would make it mechanically sound and drive it. I would fall somewhere in between. I'd want it to be mechanically sound and look presentable. I think it's worth going that far with...IF the underside and frame are solid. The trunk, door openings and rockers leads me to believe it's possibly more solid than it appears, especially for a convertible.
The quarters don't even look that bad to me. Too bad the owner is unrealistic in his pricing.

There is a lot wrongs with this car, but if you got rid of the wheels, I kind of like it.

I like it, too. Get rid of those rims, and that's a pretty cool car for a good price: If it's as nice as it looks.

That grille ruins the look of the Firebird to me. Reminds me of some of that George Barris stuff.
I GUESS it's a 400 car from the 160 speedo but who knows? He never mentioned the engine except that it doesn't look like it's ever been 'worked on'.

I’ve never seen a grill like that for a Firebird so someone put some time into it. I don’t hate the grill (I don’t like the overall car) but you are right it screams Barris customs

I kind of agree. While not my cup o' tea, I kind of respect the Barris-like attempt. It almost worked Bone stock correct is awesome, but I like the 60's and 70's personalize and improve approach, even with attempt mis-fires like this.

It would be cool to see that same grill painted black in a stock-ish configuration. Maybe 17”or 18” Rallye II’s and keep the chrome bumper
