Default 1970 bright blue interior

?...was the fabulous 1970 bright blue interior dash molded in colour?...same ?...were the interior hard plastic pieces also the same?......anyone know the years the crazy interior combonations were available?(i.e. carpet/seat trim)...possible combonations?/any poloroids?...last ?, what was the lightest colour dash available in a Firebird to match the seats?...in other words, was an all light(white/oyster?) interior available??...thanks!!

The majority of all interior trim was molded in color. Metal trim was painted. Parts shortages in a certain color may have also resulted in some painted plastics but this isn't very common.

The years for odd contrasting color interiors was around '73-76. Red/white, blue/white, black/red. There were probably a few other combinations. You could also get a completely different color carpet.

A white interior was offered on Firebirds but it was "tuxedo" style. The dash, kick panels, console, carpet, and package shelf were black while everything else was white.

Lightest color dash would probably be one of the tans/browns. Sandalwood maybe?

Default interior combos

thankyou, Dens71TA!..I recently saw a ,probably the 74 John Player Special? and it had a very cool white/off white interior...but what I noticed most was a matching dash...my 76 custom white interior had a black dash...so I must have seen a G.M...what if?...too bad some current restos were not more loose...are you saying, black seats with red trim/plastic(not seats) every where else?

I have to agree......mixing up the colors like that IS disturbing ....wonder what they were thinking?

I noticed in the posted picture the steering column is red...so this must be an Esprit or Formula with an "owner added" black formula wheel....

I saw a tri color 73 interior once and I have wondered if it was stock. The horsecollar seats had different color middle sections. I want to say the interior was blue / white / black, but it was a long time ago.

It was probably the same guys that authorized brown and green interiors as options on '69-72 Trans Ams!

I don't believe they ever "two-toned" the seats from the factory....

Have you thought about changing your "handle" to bird71?

The blue and red used in 1970 were much brighter than in '71/'72 - they got darker and more muted in the latter years.

White and the "tuxedo" combo stuff wasn't available until '71, as others have noted.

Sandalwood was the lightest interior color available in '70. It's a light tan color, but the dash, kick panels and console were still a darker "caramel" color.

And yes, most of it was either molded in color plastic or colored vinyl. All of the materials had varying degrees of UV color stability, so you'll typically see mismatched colors on cars that haven't had their interiors restored.

I love a nicely restored bright blue '70 interior. That's just one of those colors you'd NEVER see on a modern car!

Had a 70 that PUI did a custom seat cover for me that hits on what I think you're trying to pull together in your mind...

nice!!...in 1980 a friend had the first early T/A I had ever seen...a 1971 Lucerne blue with white custom interior...mine is Lucerne blue with black interior...blue on blue is a bit much, but obviously Pontiac did not think so,because they made them..any 71 or 72 with a unique interior?

Default interior with no shifter or console

the interiors that have no floor shifters or console are even crazier...granted lots of free space up front but I can not imagine having a 455 H.O. teamed up to a column shifter..I would believe it would be in an owners best intrest to leave it in drive if you were street racing, but perhaps I am wrong...I do prefer a 4 speed with no console look, and I have seen a 1970 and a 1972 with the column shift
