Gotcha, Bob!

I have your numbers for some reason, so I just thought maybe you had mine.

Anyway, you have mail.

Just cuz you sold them all... I have been thinking of cloning my 72 HO with the 71 400 Formy, same color, wheels, interior etc. Identical twins for all intents and purposes, that way I can drive the 71 and not worry about wrecking a rare one.

At least I caught up with you so to speak.

HO Question, I know the experts will know....

What is a rectangular heat shield looking part? Starter shield? I went to get the exhaust manifold heat riser shield from the seller of the HO top end I just got and he couldn't find that part, but he did give me this rectangular heat shield looking part, he wasn't sure what it did, he thought maybe a starter shield?

sounds like the inner preheat shroud that goes under the drivers side exhaust manifold on RA manifold cars. Tried to post a pic but can't so here is an eBay link with a pic:

I was watching that 133 for the Formula but that got out of hand real quick! I'll get by with a points distributor for now!

Yeah, wow....... something, umm, fishy about that ad...... The car isn't moved, does it even start? Two pics? Why pics of other dirty cars???? To make you drool for future dirty unmoved car auctions? There is something pschotic or fraudulent going on.....

BUT, am I seeing 14 honeycombs on the Formula?

The Judge is owned by a member here and those are Orange (As in University ofTennessee, Go Big Orange!, I wish I was on top of Old Rocky Top!) fuzzy dice. As a former student of that fine higher education facility, I think those dice are a very nice touch, thank you very much!! Hint: Note the colors of my two vehicles shown herein!

And, I'm with you fellers on the dusty cars - I hate to see cars stored like that! But a column-shift T/A would be a nice addition to a collection.

I have a column shift 72 F400, and that is the first time I have ever heard someone say a column shift would be a desireable thing of any sort I have always looked at mine as a rare oddity and actually scrounged all the parts to convert to floor shift once, but got rid of them later, deciding it's freakishness was worth keeping.

Column shifts unite!

Yes, it seems the column-shift oddity has become a "desirable rarity" of late. I am not sure how anyone could document the number of column-shift TAs built other than estimating based on option percentages.....

The first time I saw an early second-gen column-shift car was in about '77. It was a White 71 TA for sale (painted black, and rusty already) with blue interior. I saw the column shift and about fell over! I have always assumed that no one ordering a TA or Formula ever intended to get a column-shift, rather someone just screwed up and forgot to order a console too!
I should rephrase that...most never intended to get a column-shift. I met a gentleman at the TA Nats last year with an original-owner '71 TA 0-option car. He had the blank PHS proudly displayed. If I recall the story correctly he ordered the car to be a drag car, and he preferred a column-shift to floor mounted automatic.

I think the desirability is a result of the perception of its rarity rather than it being a desirable option itself. I like oddball stuff and think it is neat that some cars were built that way, however, I still prefer the floor shift especially since it would a slapshift shifter.

If I remember right, that factory red '72 TA is a column shift automatic.

I think it's "interesting" that some of these cars actually slipped through cracks & were manufactured WITHOUT floorshifts/consoles,but I don't think I'd personally LIKE looking at all of that carpet on the transmission tunnel in MY car UNLESS it had a NICE hurst chrome hook growing out of it.(with a clutch pedal of course)

This question is not really engine related, but as far as PS tech goes, are urethane body mounts, engine mounts & suspension bushings considered legal?

Can you post some pics of your 71 T/A?

Show us the rest of your HO.

The engine shot in the magazine was COOL. (it's looks so...,er....,well..., stock?
Here are a few pics of Mark's car. Sorry it took so long but she just started working again.
