Default 70-73 rear bumper guards

My 72 has factory bumper guards on it an I am not going to use them or the bumper. Could be used for a driver but I would rechrome. Has rubber strips but they do have some indentions.

What should I ask for these? I've never seen them before but that doesn't mean they are worth anything.

I don't know what they're worth, but I like them. I have a pair on my 71.

I'm interested if you come up with a price. My chrome is in good shape, but my rubber strips are trashed.

The rubbers are the hard part to find.

I have planned installing these on my car - I like the looks of them...
I found the bumperettes in South Dalota in 2004, and (iirc) I found the rubbers through this forum six years later...

I sent necdb3 some pics and he has first dibs on them, if he decides to pass on them I will post the pics up to see if anyone else wants them. Rubbers have some marks on them but are definitely usable and not dry rotted.

Please count me as second in line, pending photos and necdb3's decision. My car is an original Y99 suspension car with no rear spoiler. It's an odd combo, and I'd like to include the bumpers in the restoration.

or was it?

true value is a point often observed between asking and selling prices.

I've never considered the concept that the true value of an item is less than what I sold it for, or paid for it. Let me consider that for a moment.....

Okay, after careful consideration I reject that philosophy.

Thumbs up 71-73 Bumper Guard Values

I'll weigh in on this subject. To me, the very nice complete original pair of bumper guards that Larry pictured are worth the $400 I paid him for them. Some people may $h!# their pants at that price and some people will say that was a good deal. The value of this stuff completely varies by condition, rarity, desirability, etc. I could see a NOS set of these going for over $1000 to the person who may need them for a complete correct restoration of a car that came from the factory with them and were missing. Fortunately for me, I have 2 cars that came from the factory with the rear bumper guards and are still in very good condition. I personally like the look of them and so I'm going to add this set to my Formula. I feel I paid a fair price for what I bought. Thanks Larry!
Each has their own opinion of what these parts are worth.

So it's safe to say........
the other persons parts are overpriced............unless the parts are yours to sell.

"Molding Urethane" ( used in the Model Train hobby extensively ) could be used to make a mold of these rubbers from a nice one, then you could probably make a pair with anything from plasti dip to Fiberglass resin, with studs installed.
Consider the repop 70-73 Z-28 Nose ( originally Urethane) is now Fiberglass.
Flat / semi black painted Fiberglass "rubbers" would not be noticeable

I was wondering if the same 3M Flexible part repair two-part material that's used to repair Endura noses could be used on these. I might give it a try on mine. The rubber is still there on both of them, they are just chipped, gouged, etc. I might be able to work with them enough to come up with something. Worst case scenario, I take them off and just run the bumper clean.
