Default 1968 Catalina conv. parting out

Well it's been a long time coming.. I've been trying to get this car for over two years.
Told me he will be bringing it over this week. Anyway it's a parts car, complete.
I may be using the engine, but need to look it over first.

I hope to have some parts at the BOPC show in Wheaton Il on the 29th.
Email with needs...
It has a red interior, bench seat, auto.
Sheet metal is fair... no holes or surface rust but will have to check further for filler/patch work.
Top works.
Chrome is good.

Default Need Catalina parts

James,

I just bought a red 69 catalina convertible. I am looking for interior pieces and a steering wheel. Also may need brake drums and as this one currently has 8-lug wheels that need to be reconditioned. One of the drum liners is wasted.

I May be interested in whole car. Any chance you could send some pics. I am in Detroit.

Thanks,

- Paul Zaffarano

Paul

I would love to sell you parts off this car but 69 was a major redesign on the Catalina...
not much past chassy and drivetrain will interchange.. conv. top mech. will work too.
Steering wheel and interior are very different.

thanks
James

Default Sorry for the Typo

James,

My Cat is a 1968 not a 69. I was in a hurry (on my way out to pull the motor out of my '68 GTO actually).

Is the interior in decent shape? What color is th steering wheel? Are the brake drums any good?

Yep I always make those mistakes... ha ha

The Cat. still has not made it to my house .. the interior is red. and is in very
good shape. I don't remember the condition of the wheel.
It has regular 5 lug drums. I'm sure the drums are decent.

The engine from this car will be going into my 68 GTO... and what ever else will
fit on the GTO.

James

Default Whole Car

James,

I would consider taking whatever is left (whole Car) when you are done. If you could take several pics of it when you get it, I will be able to give you an answer based on those. Any idea what you might want for it?

Also, what's the Cats ETA to your house?

Paul...

It's a matter of timing now... he's 50 miles from my house so we have to plan it out
around work and other stuff..
I hoped to already have it by now....

When I get it I will post some picts...

James

James,

That's cool. I will wait to hear from you.
Do you have any other requests for parts off of it yet?

I should be getting the car today...

Like I said earlier it's a 1968 Cat. Conv. everything works
Red interior, auto on the column. No posi or 8 lug wheels.
I will be at the BOPC in Wheaton IL this weekend.. if you have any requests for parts
and you want me to bring them let me know.

Paul does have first dibs on the parts he wants.. sorry Paul I will not be able to sell
the whole car.. I do have a couple projects cars that will need parts off this car as
well.

thnks

James,

I understand. Once I see the pics, I'll give you a list of what parts I'll need you to give me a price on.

Thanks,

I have a 68 Conv. red w/ white top and red interior that is a basket case. I would be interested in the whole frame tranny crossmember and as much of the body you will let go. How do I get ahold of you? We need to talk......Thanks

z-bag,,

Paul has asked about some interior pieces first so when the time comes he has
dibs.. but no one has asked about any sheet metal...

Frame condition is unknown but I fear it may be somewhat rusty..
I think all the panels have some form of rust but have been repaired.
they look great.

Here is a photo of the 1968 Catalina being parted out.
This picture has to be at least 10 years old... look too nice to part...

It has since been hit in the front by a city bus... not major damage but
bumper was moved out of aligment.

When I get the car I will post clear photo of each panel and interior..

Did the bumpers survive? Need driver quality if they did...Also, looking for wheel skirt brackets.

Alright the car is in my garage now, came in last night.. the car is very complete.

Trunk floor is shot, rockers are shot. Looks like the rear 1/4s are about 2 inches thick with
bondo. Front fenders look to have some work done but look real nice.
Doors are pretty good. Pass door has a nasty dent though.
Frame has some issues, not completely sure its condition but does not look that great.
One of the reasons the car is being parted.

Front bumper is tweaked but real nice chrome.. better then driver. Rear bumper is straight
no pits but not as nice as front. Front valence is perfect. Hood and deck lid are perfect.
Headlight bezels and grilles are perfect. real nice.

Interior is real clean, All red, front bench has been recovered and is off in color and the ribs
are flat. No tears just re-dye it and it should look great. Rear seat and trim are mint.. real nice.
Dash is real nice except for the radio cut out. Steering wheel is off another car and color does not match. Has cover on it so I'm sure it has some cracks.

Stainless trim around windshield is perfect very nice. Vent windows are amazing no pits
wish they would fit my GTO!!

Brakes work great and have a new extra set of shoes for the front in orig. box.
From what he told me he put new bushings in the front control arms and rear.
The rear axle has 373 non posi.

I will post pictures as soon as I can...

thanks,
