A headbanger likes it, so that's all that matters to me.

It's interesting that a sticky-bun country bumpkin doesn't see the obvious link.

Yep, that song was #1 for a while, and was song of the year, 2 years running. It was extremely popular in the early '70's. Back then, most drag only cars had names & decals. Today, not so much.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easy_Loving

By the way, that pic was taken at Green Valley Race City, in 1977, at the div 4 bracket finals. It didn't have chrome wheels on it because I had pulled the 455 out & used it & the big slicks on my '69 GTO, in order to make the last bracket race at our local track. I won that race, which qualified me for the finals race. I did a rush job putting a very mild 400 back in the Bird, to get it ready to race. Bought the 9" slicks/wheels from a local racer.

She didn't win anything at the finals race. But, right after that, she did win the biggest race of the year at the Prescott Ark track. I think they called it the Southwest Ark Championship race, or something similar.

Earlier in the season, before I pulled the 455, we went to Green Valley, to check it out. She ran 12.40's there, and got some ink in the Nov Hot Rod mag that year.

Below are pics of the car, at our 1st Green Valley outing, the pic that made Hot Rod mag, and a pic of TJ, with the big trophy she won for the Prescott Race win. I think she only won maybe $300 or $400 or thereabouts( I could look it up). But, back then, dollars were worth a lot more than they are today. Gas was around 50 cents, and the new 1-ton trucks I bought for race haulers only cost about $4k. The entry fee at many of the local area tracks was $10 or less, for car & driver. It was a much different era ! And it was LOTS of fun !

She don't race any more, but she still helps me work on my drag cars, when I need an extra hand. She was a great racing partner & is still a great wife. I tell her she's "perfect", quite often. She always says "That's right, & don't you forget it !

Here she is in her 1st bracket car, in '76, another pic from '77, and a few years earlier after her 1st solo flight, in a Piper Colt, at age 16. She has never been your average girl !

Just happen to think, it was less than a year later that I entered my 1st drag race, which was held on the same air strip where TJ did her solo flight. There were several SS 396 Chevelles & a 442 in my class. Hadn't planned to race, since my '69 GTO only had 500 miles on it. But, they called me out. What else could I do ? I beat the 442 in the class final. He had headers & cheater slicks. That was my 1st win, of many more to follow. That GTO made me a life long Pontiac Freek !

Would that be the Green Valley Raceway in Smithfield,TX? Grew up and still live just down the road from there. Spent many nights in the parking lot hangin' out. Now just houses as far as the eye can see.

Yeah, those were our cars, in '78. Those numbers were used for the IHRA points race that was held In Tyler TX, @ I-20 Dragway. Both cars had a 455, and I'd switched 'em over to Cragar S/S wheels & 13 x 30 slicks.

By the way, TJ won that race, from the 16th position, in a 16 car qualified field. Won the winner's pot, plus some contingency money. Also, got a little ink in the IHRA paper, Drag Review.

In the last pic below, if you look close, you'll see that the car has no hood. It still had the factory steel hood, so I took it off, along with some other unnecessary weight. I did this because of the 16 car qualified field. It worked. I was #15. Then the #16 car broke, which put TJ in the bump spot. That's what I love about bracket racing. You can have the slowest car in the field & still win the race.
