That's pretty damn quick for a large and heavy car. Congrats!

Thanks....I have been back racing my 60 for 10 years now. In that time I have only raced 1 other 60(Ken Davis) & 1 59 (Calvin Hill Sr.). I did see Harley Davis's 60 run too & know of Gas455's down under..
Looking to see other 59 & 60 drag cars ...!960 was the birth year of the "Super Duty"..!!!!
Bring 'em on...

Dang it. Saw your car in the pits, but never got to meet you Troy, and didn't get to see your car run either. That was one thing I was looking forward to on Sunday and we had to leave unexpectedly Saturday night. Maybe next year!

I noted that you were coming and looking to meet you. I do a lot of "running" at Norwalk.. I heard the call for you over PA....hope all turned out OK at home.
I was a happy camper...with last motor car was mostly a 11.10 t0 20's car...maybe a high ten. First pass with new motor netted a 10.39 @ 129.6 mph !! Felt like a 200 mph pass to me picking up that much over last year on first pass !!! I honestly think this combo has some 9's in it...
Can you say time for rear discs !!
Maybe I'll catch up with you next year Jerry...

I was pitted by the guy with the 62 post Catalina SD clone, seafoam(?) green color. I can't remember his name, he was an older gentleman. He kept me up to date on how you were running; especially the fact that you were 'easing' off the line with no wheelstands this year!

That would be Bob Jones and Stray Cat 62 Catalina. I never made it to his pits either ... We run a lot together in MANDRA Race Series. Norwalk was my first outing this year...I loved it as usual...

Seems someone had decided to break into Mike's house and steal all of his guns and a bunch of other stuff. Luckily he got a call as we were about 2 hours from home saying they had caught the thief and recovered everything. I really enjoyed meeting you and can't wait until next year!

Been following Troys '60 over the years and watched it progress. Kind of like the old days when you fought each problem/system as the need arose or the previous system uncovered. Would love to have everything right all the time but what would you learn/discover that way?? The journey is half the fun. We have to get that Star Trek tranporter perfected so we can take our cars anywhere in a second. That way we could all get together any time and have fun. HEY! Don't laugh, they claim to have transported an atom already. A trillion billion atoms more shouldn't take much longer right? Mark L

There are 2 '60 Pontiac race cars out here in the west owned by Bill Grace in northern Ca. He came out to Pontiac Heaven a few years back and I see and speak with him at Bakersfield a few times a year.
His main car has a tilt front end and is a stick shift. He has shown me pics of his 2nd '60. I think it is a tube chassis and is planned to be blown.

Mark almost started building a '60 of mine but, ended up building his '63.
Hope this answers your questions.

Troy- don't forget "old man" Wangers winning the 1960 NHRA Nationals in Detroit with a sixty! Darn it- can't remember whether he won SS or Stock Eliminator...

I recently bought a '60 Catalina coupe in the same color combo as the one Wangers drove to add to my collection. Neat car.

Would Steve's "'60 389 AA/Fuel dragster- 6.77@200mph so far" not qualify as a "Fast 60 drag car" because it isn't a 60 Pontiac or because it isn't fast enough?

That's funny you would mention that Bill. True my car is powered by a 1960 389 engine but, I think he was asking for the year body and not the engine. I tell ya, those '58-'60 cylinder blocks are really tuff. I still like them as much as I did when I first learned of them. Also have noticed some guys now building their race motors based on one of these blocks. I see no reason to change blocks in the forseeble future and think they can handle very low 6 second ETs at over 225mph. we'll see.
take care.

I know Bill Grace and his cars. His tube chassis 60 is going to be cool...I have some pictures somewhere......should be light !!!His tilt front end car is based on a 60 389 with a 4 speed. I have seen some T-shirts on Ebay with his car on them...I knew Mark wanted to do a 60 but has his 63 under way now.
I was looking to find some other NSS or bracket "door car" 60's.. Don't think your digger qualifys....but it sure is 60 powered !!
Would even like to see pictures from "the good old days"...
Thanks...
