4X heads/Date Codes
I have a pair of 4X heads with date codes of what appears to be H152 and G272. What do they belong to and what are the date codes? Thank you!!!

July 27th 1972 Casting
August 15th 1972 Casting They would prob be on a 1973 model car. Check the ends of the bosses on each head. You would have 1h,4h,3h or 7h as a secondary code. That will tell a lot about what exact engine and trans they came on..

1h is a 455 4bbl auto
4h is a 400 2bbl auto 3h is a 400 4 bbl auto 7h is a 400 4bbl 4 speed. 98-112cc's most all have screw in studs after march or so of '73. Only the 3h and 7h will have screw in studs prior to march.

There was a 7 stamped on the horizontal underside of the bossing on both heads, no H however? Are these worth anything to anyone? I assume they are from a 400 4-spd 1973? I got them with a car purchase last year, just never checked them out!

The following are 73-74 heads
4X-1H uses 4.881/4.870" valves 4X-1H are 455 head with 114cc, 2.11/1.66" valves and pressed studs. 4X-3H are 400 4bbl head with manual transmission, 98cc, 2.11/1.66" valves and screw-in studs. 4X-4H are 400 2bbl head, 1.96/1.66" valves and pressed studs. 4X-7H are 400 4bbl with auto trans, 98cc, 2.11/1.66" and screw-in studs. 46 are 350 2bbl/4bbl heads with about 86cc, 1.96/1.66" valves and pressed studs. 4C-5 are 350 with AIR, 1.96/1.66" 86cc, pressed stud. 4C-9 are 400 with AIR, 1.96/1.66", 98 cc, pressed stud. Is this info correct for these heads???

Sorry if you think I mislead you. At the time I was going from Rockys article. http://www.highperformancepontiac.co...ads/index.html But lately, I have just about decided that all the 7h heads I have dealt with have slightly smaller chambers. Most around 98cc's. Seems the 3hs average about 102-103cc's.It would make sense that the 4 speed cars would get the smaller chambers. Its just my observation.No need to sell your heads. Rocky knows his stuff for sure.
