1967 GTO gets smoked by a new stock Nissan Altima
Just now on Jay Leno's Garage. It wasn't even close.

I have always said that today's stock cars will out run our old stock ones, But, have you ever heard someone say "Look, a Nissan Altima!"?

No surprise there.

I bet an F16 would outrun a P51 too.
And a 67 GTO will outrun a 1917 Packard. |

Let's see how quick that Altima is when it's 52 years old!

That's right. Parts pushers can't sell parts to Nissan owners because the cars don't break.

A Google search tells me that a 2019 Altima can do a 1/4 mile in 15.7 seconds, while the turbo edition can do 14.6. Don’t rush out to buy these super cars just yet.
In a more modern comparison, I was driving my Yukon back from the desert last night and came up on an Altima going slow in the fast lane. He floored it when I moved to pass, but wasn’t able to put up much of a fight.

Probably would've had a different ending if Pontiac was a sponsor of the show.

Good info....they probably used a GTO with A/C and open rear end.

There is a reason that there is a website dedicated to Nissan problems: http://www.nissanproblems.com/ Thanks for providing some more evidence as to why I rarely agree with you. For some reason you seem to think that calling a former true parts professional a "parts pusher" is a unique personal insult. I consider the source and wear it as a badge of honor. |

Don't forget, 1967 was the only year you could get a 2bbl carbed GTO too...

Nissans are junk. Their CVT transmissons are garbage.

I stand corrected.
Never made sense to me why they ever built a 2bbl version. I would have respected a OHC 4bbl GTO more than the 2bbl. |

I had a 190k on a Versa cvt before it grenaded . I would avoid another though . It was just my work car for a few years so I don’t know how it was treated before me . Carfax didn’t show a prior trans replacement . Too bad the cvt cost so much to replace though ! The car just wasn’t worth it so I had to send it to the yard . Darn shame , It was actually a nice car and surprisingly comfortable - you just don’t get much respect driving one lol I’ve had a few nissans , seems like little electrical gremlins & rusting out are the biggest issues I’ve encountered .
