Angelo,
Are you saying the factory A/F base clears all the fuel lines and bulges? As far as sitting on the throttle body. Not taking into account the height, just the fact that sits nice on top of the throttle body.

My 78 w72 air cleaner base does. Not sure if the 77-78 shaker bugle air cleaners clear or if the 70-76, but my 78-79 w72 fits on the fitech. I plugged the holes with machine screws and lock nuts and the vent hole I covered with fender washers crushed by a #10 machine screw and lock nut.
The fitech would not clear if you had to run a return line. |

No, it would require some cutting and welding (more than just dimpling). But I think the blockers drop base may clear it, I contact them with measurements will see what they say.

But if you use the fitech control module you do not need to run a return. I bet you could run anlow pressure electric pump to the fitechfuel center then you would be in business.
Did you install a high pressure fuel pump in the gas tank already? |

Ok, I can live with a little cutting and welding...seems like you're saying the only place of concern is the one corner with the return and at least one of the other three(supply) clear.

I really don't have room for the control center. I was going to use their inline fuel pump temporarily. Because I think the 600HP system is too borderline for me. I really want to use the 1200HP system so I can upgrade later. Plus they say the 1200HP system will run to 800HP with the in line fuel pump. So, now $1500 plus fuel supply, now getting close to the $2000.00 mark which now makes it not so competitive for me. It would be nice if you could buy the 600HP system and upgrade later but you really can't. Ultimately I would like to a legitimate 600HP motor. That puts me on the edge.

The control center is not that big, but if you are pushing the 600 hp I think you're better served with the return line high pressure setup. I don't believe you can simply upgrade the FiTech, the different model is cast to house 8 injectors instead of 4, which is where the rated hp comes into play. Honestly I think if you start hitting that 800+ hp range you should be thinking about port injection or if possible, direct injection.

I don't plan on ever getting to the 800HP mark. Just an honest 600HP.

One thing to keep in mind is that at the 600 hp mark all the other tbi systems are running out of steam as well. So if you're going beyond that you're having to upgrade the other systems as well. The Go EFI 8 will get you enough headroom for 1200hp at still less coast than the competitors at 600 hp. It's not an apples to apples comparison.

If I have this right, Angelo is running the factory intake with a Holley to Q-jet adapter which if it is the Edelbrock, is about .80" high. If you were to either mill that down to maybe .50" or use the 1/16" plate that everyone is talking about, it would seem that you could then use a .25-.375" air cleaner spacer to raise the air cleaner up off of the TP and end up exactly at the same overall height Angelo is at right now. The only question is if that would be enough for the air cleaner to clear the TB using a return line? I think we are going to need some pics.
I do have to say, I read the two Corvette Forum installs, two Pro-Touring.com installs and this one and no one has seemed to have any problems at all with getting their cars up and running well with overall driveability improved. All appearances are that the FITech owners who have posted their installs appear to be satisfied with their initial purchases which is more than I can say for some pretty hit and miss write ups on Fast, Holley and MSD. Still a bit early in the game though.

I think I read that may be coming in the future. At that point though you would just be buying their management software and wiring, all the other hardware is off the shelf gm parts as I understand it. There is some website that explains how to do port injection by yourself, though the fitech software and control module I think is worth the $1000 i paid for the whole system.

Based on your write up it sounds like this system flat out works for a street car. I know you like the better driveability and cold starting. I am thinking about ordering up a system in the near future, any feedback on m.p.g. increases after installing the FItech system? I am curious to see if there is any help for my 462.

My mpg seems to have gone down. Will record my next fill up. May also be that I am driving more now that it's easy to start. I was having a lean condition before I switched to this fuel injection so I may have been getting good mileage because of that.
