I always wanted a early 1970-1973 TA, They are just so hard to find, It took me about a month of searching to find this 1973 TA with original motor, trans, and rear end. Every one I looked at, the seller either wanted 35K and up for it, or it was really a clone, or not a original motor car.

Anyone know what this stamped number is in the wheel house on first picture? I've seen it on other cars also, But always on driver side.

Here are pictures of the rocker all welded up. Getting close to putting on quarter panel. Question for everyone, my NOS quarter has a tab that bends back on top of the rocker panel, and looks like originally it went under that support beam the striker bolts to, Do I have to break that support beam lose from the rocker panel to install new quarter panel? For anyone who has done NOS quarter panels they should be able to answer this question. thanks everyone in advance.

there's really no good way to get at that particular spot. yes, the tab on the quarter goes between the door support and the rocker. problem is, how do you weld the three layers back together? if you can find a way to get at that weld point, lmk! i used structural automotive urethane adhesive on mine. the "old" way of doing it was to trim the tab back, leave the support in place--and any rust between it and the rocker-- and then weld the base of the quarter to the rocker following by grinding a groove in it to look factory. that area always made me curious as to what kind of resistance welding rig they used to put that area together.

Hello Everyone and Happy Holidays,
Well it was warmer yesterday and today, so I got some work done on the car, Have to remind myself to buy that heater for the garage, But anyways, I tacked my outer wheelhouse into place and wanted to test fit my NOS quarter panel and my NOS tail panel. Took me about 3 hours to get every thing lined up. Too bad I have to take it all apart to finish welding my outer wheelhouse on and make a bunch of holes in my quarter panel and tail panel so I can weld them into place, But At least I know everything fits correctly and all my body lines and gaps look correct. I compare the gaps to my other car and using it for reference.

How I did my quarter panel to rocker was to first to spot weld and reinforce the inner bracing so the quater panel slides underneath like the original, I then using the thinnest cut off wheel I could find and cut a slit between the rocker panel and the inner bracing so the new quarter could just slide right into place. I will also put a couple of tacks on the outside just to be on the safe side, Will also put at least one tack on inside through vent above stricker after quarter panel is installed. Here are a couple of pics of described areas.

I worked on the car again today, Its great being on vacation, Get to work on car at a faster pace. Here are some pics, I removed the tail pan and quarter panel so I could finish welding outer wheel house into place, I then painted everything, put weld through primer on areas that get welded, Also painted new NOS quarter panel on inside.

nice work. your car has rear spoiler, right? if so, make sure you fit the end caps before you weld it up. kind of interesting that your rocker was so rotted but your inner door support was fine. mine was gone halfway up and i had to fully remove it and refabricate most of the bottom of it, but the rocker was fine, the galvanizing held up very well. i'd recommend that when you do weld the quarter on, that you fully weld the seam shut. helps keeps the top corner of the door from cracking out.

Does anyone ever re-lead these factory seams any more, I searched the web and most people use stuff called ALL Metal, I guess its like an aluminium filler, also read somewhere that it also has talc in it, and talc absorbs water? Any suggestions would be welcome, Someone told me to buy the lead kit from Eastwood, I have not decided what to do yet. Also here are More pics.

Also started on the other side 1/4 panel today, Did some paint stripping and blasting. This side was not as bad as the driver side, but still needs repaired, or replaced.
