This chart is not mine. I've posted it before. It is a simple way to find the info you need to find correct carb and manifold numbers for all Pontiac Tripowers--except the '57, '58.

Actually the Chart posted by Dick B agrees with the Rochester Products info.
Rochester Products says for the 1966 389 front carb you could have two different part numbers for each engine: 1966 389 engines used either the 7024178 carb or the 7025178 carb. 1966 421 engines used either the 7024078 carb or the 7025078 carb. So the chart provided by Dick B is correct but not totally correct as it does not also include the other 389 carb mentioned above. Most likely the same will be evident for the 421 info when I check it. I believe the chart does not list all of the correct carbs just one part number vs two part numbers for a given position/model year. Tom V.

The chart shows 7025178 for both M/T and A/T for 1966 389.
This is obviously not correct since 1966 389 w/A/T uses 7024178. The 7025178 appeared first on 1965 389 M/T and was carried over to 1966 389 M/T. This info is from Delco Rochester Bulletin 9C-640 Date December, 1965, Delco Rochester Bulletin 9C-627 Date May, 1967 and the 1966 Tempest Chassis Shop Manual. Also, the tag on my original 1966 GTO Tripower A/T front carb shows 7024178. The chart is wrong on the 1966 421 front carb as well, should be 7024078 for A/T. Ok I see where the confusion is. And again your info agrees with mine, except:
The Rochester People on their hand written sheet clearly identify different carb numbers for both the 64 and 65 Front and Rear carbs when using a A/T or using a M/T. Their sheet does not have that extra note above the 1966 carburetors. Possible just an oversite on their copying the 1966 carb numbers. They had plenty of room to add that Front A/T Front M/T etc info on the area above the 1966 information. I followed their handwritten sheet exactly. But it may not be totally correct based on your info as far as designating A/T vs M/T. So Dick's posted info from whatever has some errors but we seem to be in agreement except for one group of headings for the 1966 carbs. (Same headings used for 1964 and 1965). The info does mention specifically the Air Injection Reactor Center Carb 7036175 Do you show that info Kenth? Tom V.

I have verified, after a relook at the 1966 Tri-Power Carb Information, that the info I have posted is correct and matched the Rochester Provided Sheets.
I will go thru the 1965 Tri-Power Carb Info and will identify where cars are the same for multiple years (like the end carbs). The following carb for 1965 should match the info I posted for the 1966 carbs. here are the Carb Part Numbers. End carbs the same as the 1966 posted info: 1965 carbs: 389 Front Carbs (7024178, 7025178) 421 Front Carbs (7024078, 7025078) 389 Rear Carbs (7024179, 7025179) 421 Carbs 7024079, 7025079) I will start posting 1965 Center Carb info tomorrow or at a later time. I have family in Kansas and know the Hands, Tom Wilhite and family, Jim Brady and Family, Clay Phillips, Mike Cooper and wife, Sam Jackson, Mark Schottler and his dad when his dad ran a shop that did machine work on Pontiacs. His dad has passed. Tri-Powers are cool and this thread is purely to pass on technical specs given to me many years ago when I did some free work for the Henry Ford Museum on their 65 GTO. Thanks again! Just trying to figure out the differences between '64, '65 and '66 Tri-power set-ups. Like I said, I have a '65 set-up on a '64 GTO 389. Center carbs are different between '65 and '66, right? End carbs are the same? Is there a thread that covers the differences in the linkages and choke set-ups? May be asking too many questions on this thread. I need to figure out how to copy/paste threads to keep them for myself. Thanks again!

Yes, Center Carbs are different from 1965 to 1966.
In Calibrations, in how the carbs bolt down to the intakes, and how the Rochester Engineers did the Choke Systems (to name just a couple of differences). The End Carbs were mostly 1964 Calibrations or 1965 Calibrations for the carbs. If you look at the info I have posted to date I have updated the 1965 end carbs with the correct changes made and the Rochester Products People made a number change to the carbs which helps to determine a change. In order to create the information for the website I took the info from the sheets, transferred it to an excel file tab, and then later transferred that info from the tab to the PY Board Post. You should be able to just copy the info for one carb and directly post it into a excel spreadsheet that has a row height of 24 and a column "C" width of 85.64 and it should fit perfectly. Tom V.
