Currently I am finishing up on the rear end. Getting the brake plates and brake hardware installed. Installing new brake drum adjusting kit along with the springs, shoes, bearings, and seals and putting the final touches of the factory paint dabs that I uncovered after I pressure washed it. I should complete it this weekend and will have some pictures of the outcome....stay tuned.

Bub

Default Update - 1/15/08

Finally finnished painting the center section and axle tube and painted all the correct markings like I found after I pressure washed it. I have one mark to add to the bottom of the center section. Its the letter "G" painted in white. I'll add that when I put all the new brake hardware, shoes, bearings, seals and emergency brake cables on.

Jay, come on - shoot me a pm when you are going to be in the area and we can hook up. I'm in Slidell right off of I-12 and the mall.

Bub,

This may seem simple but be sure to clear the unpainted metals. They will rust/discolor and look like ***** the first time you wash the car. That goes for all the unpainted engine components,Brake calipers, fasteners, bushing washers etc. Go for a satin to flat clear so it will not be obvious. For the items that you want to stay cast iron looking Martin Seymour makes a great product called "Cast Blast" that keeps its color well. But clear over that as well for insurance.

That was one of my many mistakes. Had to refinish and clear a lot of small parts that I just forgot would rust. A little clear was all it took.

Great job on the upper A arms!

Jay, the plan was to clear any and everything just to make sure it didn't rust. I really don't want to redue anything if possible later on. So clear coating is the way to go.

Default Update 2/11/08

Sand blasted, primed, and painted the trans mount. Also painted the engine mounts. Sand blasted springs, upper and lower control arms, spindles,

Starting Tuesday I will be on vacation for 9 days. All dedicated to the car. My goal is to :
A) complete the sub frame. including painting remainder of pieces and install the front suspension. Just ordered all new moog tie rod ends drag link etc...to complete. Already had the complete front end bushing kit.

b) Finish sanding the underbody and cowl areas then prime, paint with brown oxide primer and satin black on the cowl and top dash area. Matched the brown from a piece of quarter panel that I cut out. Perfect match.

c) Once B is complete and dried. Install leaf springs and rear end.

Looks like a ton of updates are on the way....Stay Tuned.........
