I haven't been watching these wheels as closely lately, but, here was the last JW I saw go on Ebay. Price looked cheap until you see the large bent area on the wheel bead. Apparently, that is fixable?

Yes, repairable. Even bad lug holes can be repaired.

Updated list
With the latest corrections and attachments. If you have a file to attach go ahead and do so in this thread and I'll add it to the list on the next update. I grabbed that 1/27/70 picture from eBay. If you have some on Photobucket or anywhere else on the Internet point me to them and I'll add them here. I'll add the 12/30/70 attachment when I get that wheel.

Attached are pics of JW wheels dated 4/10/70 and 4/13/70. My Norwood built car with build date of 05D has two of each.

My 1971 HO TA, C6 71 built car, has 12/29 and 12/30 KR's on it.. DO not have the spare,so I am not sure what the original spare was. I thik this has to be one of the few original items(the spare) this car doesn't still have. My POINT here is, so many of us search for the exact same 5 date coded wheels thinking we are doing the correct thing for our restoration, I believe more times than not you got 3 of one date and 2 of another date. I have even heard of some later 70 models getting JW's and KN's mixed.. GM wasn't code crazy as we all can get(I know I have been guilty of this)...SO yes, glat to see your correct mis matched dates...just like my 1971 HO has... |

Just to confirm what MixedMuscle and 70RAIII posted, my 70 TA was built in Norwood the first week of June. It has three 4/9 JW's and one 4/13 JW. The spare was long gone, so I do not know what it was. I am keeping an eye open for one but I do not want to cash in my 401K!
Here is a pic of each date:

Strange Codes...
I've actually never bothered to check the date codes on the wheels on my cars, but after reading this thread today, I decided to. Pics below are what's on the TA (3 JWs and 1 KR).
Any thoughts?

Maybe it had a rim replaced under warranty.
If this is your trans am I seem to recall it was very close in proximity to my old 70, which was an 04B Van Nuys car, and it had all 4 rims dated 1/27/70 (the spare was missing). |

I'll go you one better than that, gentlemen. This is not related to correct Rally II wheels but dig this: I bought a brand new 1988 GMC 1/2 ton SWB loaded, right off the show room floor in late summer of 1987. I babied that truck until the day traded it. Here's the story. The radios in these trucks had a built in boost amplifier if you pressed the two correct buttons simultaneously. Luckily, I had purchased the extended warranty. After about 3 years one day, the radio with the volume turned wide open, could be just barely heard. I took it to the dealer and the next day he called me up and asked if I had ever done anything to this radio. I answered him and said, I don't even know how to get to the radio, much less do anything to it. There was a long pause on his end...and then he said, because my truck had a 1987 Buick Lesabre amp in it that had the connectors cut off and directly spliced to my radio harness. I told him I couldn't help that, I had bought it brand new from them and I had no idea how to even work on the radio or anything else under the dash! They fixed it, but it never played as good as when the big Buick amp was working. So you see guys, they could and would do anything at the factory to get them off the line and out the door. I also later discovered that the original windshield had been replaced with a aftermarket piece. Didn't realize it at the time of purchase, I was suffering from the fever you get when you buy a new vehicle. I checked on this and found out that if a vehicle is damaged in transit before it arrives at the dealer, there's a good chance it will be taken to an approved repair shop near the delivery hub that GM does business with. My truck was shipped via train to Atlanta to their receiving / staging area for truck delivery to dealers. Some dealers simply send drivers to pick them up. Mine was the latter. I asked why my truck had 160 miles on it when it was on the show room floor. They confirmed it had been driven from the GM terminal in Atlanta. That's how they got nearly all of their new inventory. Evidently the windshield was cracked or broken when it arrived so off to the garage to be replaced. So guys when you buy one, it's a real good idea to really take a good look at your new car. It may have already been in the repair shop even before you buy it.
my 2 cents. Eddie

Maybe someone broke the windshield stole the original radio and it was replaced before the dealer got it?
