Not today... but.... Bought this yesterday.. When I got it home I did a wheel/tire swap as the Radial T/A's that were on it were 40 years old.... and I washed it too.. Now its at my shop changing all fluids and doing some rear brake work.

Catalina- test fit the centerlink , tie rods , and idler arm.. just finger tight, got steering wheel centered and wheels eyeball straight. Can now tighten it all down for good. Need to order new Addco sway bar , and front end should be complete.

Cleared all the parts out that I was storing in the trunk that I’m sorting through now to make an attempt to move forward.
Installed the new reproduction trunk mat and the spare, pretty sure I bought the mat from Bill Ryder here on the forums several years back. One less box on the shelf so that’s a win in itself. Also put the fiberboard spare tire cover on it that I found in the trunk of one of my cars years ago, maybe from a ‘69 GP I’m not sure.

Just got an Email from Addco, your sway bar is on back order until 4/27. I really thought I was gonna be done with this front end in a couple days!! Glad I didn’t toss the old one yet. Doing a quickie cleanup and paint job on the old one..

Installed a new alternator. On the last drive of the season last year, I noticed my voltage was low. It was just below 13 on my gauge. I was pretty sure it was bad so I ordered a new one last week from Summit. I fired the car up today and the alternator was only putting out 13.2 volts on my meter so I swapped it out. The post for the power cable on the back was loose.and it rotated when I tried to remove the nut. So I had a little struggle getting it off and broke the connector/terminal off in the process. Had to run out and get a new one since I didn't have any that would work. Now I need to find someone to rebuild my original 70 alternator which I'll put back in.

Its easy to repair your own.. Service manual explains how.
Numerous vendors out there selling the parts. The only special tool you'll need is a toothpick. https://store.alternatorparts.com/gm...pair-kits.aspx

Installed seats and carpet today... door panels tomorrow.
I am not a fan of color changes... but I did it the right way.. The white interior was pretty nasty..... though it did have that cool old T/A smell ... I kept all of the original white interior pieces so it can be put back original. All of the hard plastic interior panels I installed are OEM and molded in black.. not recolored. Installed new black seat covers as well. Only thing I recolored was the headliner using SEM products. I do like the car a lot better with black interior.

Spring has sprung....
I love this time of year especially after one of our long boring winters!
Picked her up from the storage barn today and started without too many cranks. They haven't cleaned the salt from the streets here yet but I had to get her early to get a jump on the loosey goosey steering upgrades...coming soon

fuel pump issue hopefully resolved
always had issue with the airhorn gaskets on all 3 TriPower carbs oozing/getting wet with gas. My fuel pump is pushing out 6psi. I ordered the regulator kit from John at pontiactripower.com.
There was NO good place to install it. I had to make a bracket to hold the regulator. Not a lot of room to install it with the pressure gauge and filter. Haven't had a chance to run it yet because of the crappy wet weather. It does register a little over 3# now just cranking over in my garage. I can see the gauge sitting in the drivers seat with the hood open. |
