I’m kind of partial to a gt40 original of course, an I’ve always been a huge pantera (the car not the band ) fan , but the Tesla model X and model S plaid smoke about everything out there and I already have the Model X so I’d have to say model S plaid . Does everything well and smokes almost all the super cars to date

I consider the Tesla to be a super computer with 4 wheels. Something you could fall asleep in front of.

It's interesting that the GTO Ferrari, and the Cobra Daytona coupe look so similar. Here is the two compared in the same picture:

Although I don't give a whole lot of thought to what supercar I'd buy if I could afford any one that I wanted, I love the looks of the Cobra Daytona coupe, always have since I was a kid.

The US Cobra club used to have a show event in the next town to the East of where I live, and there of course were a lot of vendors there that sold kit cars. I stumbled on one that made Daytona coupe kits and I spoke to one of the salespeople at their booth, just getting an idea of how much their kits went for. He asked me what engine I would install if I bought one. I pretty much astounded him when I told him a Pontiac V8......

So my choice would be a Daytona coupe replicar, with an aluminum Pontiac V8. Probably turbocharged, and of course a paddle shifted automatic 6 speed backing it up.

My other choice would be a street legal winged sprint car, with an aluminum Pontiac V8. Equipped with an 8 stack electronic fuel injection, keeping true to the real race car look. Also would be a 4L80E behind the engine. The packaging of a 4L80E in the short wheelbase limitations of a sprint car may be a challenge though.

Image of a street legal sprint car:

I have unusual tastes......LOL

You know whats wild is Ive always liked the Cobra Daytona too. Ive long considered a FF version.

But then when you put them side by side like that.....the Daytona looks like crap next to the Ferrari lol.

As you mentioned they look similar, but it looks like someone tried to make a GTO clone in their home garage out of an 88 Fiero and ended up with the Daytona.

So Ill keep that in mind if I ever do buy that Factory Five. Dont park it next to a Ferrari GTO unless you want your feelings hurt!

When it comes to Shelby replicas, Superformance is the way to go, IMO. I had one of their Cobra replicas and it was a fantastic car.

That picture is a actual Daytona coupe below the Ferrari, taken from a museum, it isn't a kit car. The kit car examples actually are finished nicer than the real cars were.

So the car shown as an example, is something someone put together in their shop, Carrol Shelby would be that person. The car that the kit car company had on display at the show I attended, was a much more finished car. Supported by the picture shown, that jhein posted.

Ok so I’d have to add 2 , one would be the 63 tempest or lemans whatever it was that they raced in the 24 hrs of Daytona and smoked all the feraris etc.
And the other woukd be an AC cobra original race car either body style .

Herb Adam's kit car with aluminum Pontiac V 8.
I talked to Jim's wife at the funeral, the cars were still in her possession. Now maybe sold. I did ask about seeing the 'white' car one more time.

That was a favorite of mine growing up. It may have been one of the first cars to have the label "supercar" attached to it. Not sure. What a beauty. I had the pleasure to drive a Ferrari 348 Challenge car, highly modified with twin turbo's and 660+ HP to the rear wheels. First and only Ferrari I have driven. It was super smooth and easy to drive, even with the gated shifter. I was really surprised how easy it was in every respect to drive for such a high strung engine. It made beautiful noise! Something NO electric car can match. It was also very, very fast. A radio delete should be mandatory on a car like that!
